Christ knows, he's utterly dreadful. Only time we've looked remotely competent defensively this season was when he didnt play yet he's straight back in and making clangers again. No wonder Sakho is ****ed off, every right to be. Managers fault.

I don't believe our defensive issues are predominantly personnel related. You can train second rate players to defend set pieces better than we do.

It would be interesting to see someone like Hummel's play under Rodgers.

I don't know. My personal opinion is that Skrtel and Lovren are too similar ; mavericks, fully committed, battling defenders. I think we need someone to play along side them with more composure.

It pains me to say it, but you look at someone like John Terry, no pace but always takes up brilliant positions as he knows where the opponents will be ideally looking to play the ball. Covers the angles really well. Kompany's the whole package.

We definitely lack game intelligence at the back. I don't think this is something that can be taught. You either have it or you don't. Lovren looked like he had it the first few games but he's really been a shambles recently.
