The midfielders we have Henderson, Milner and Can would suit the pressing game. They all look lost in the system we have now (if you can even call it a system).

Absolutely guys, the midfield is the core in any side. If it's not working it will effect the defence and attack. At the moment our midfield this an absolute shambles. Good players are looking lazy and medicore.

He's the best we've got cry his fans - thats an indictment of the crap central defenders at the club rather than anything else.

Lovren and Skrtel aren't good enough, Sakho I'm not convinced is the answer either but I think he deserves a chance.

Good point. Controlling games has always been an issue with this team. We can be very good when on the front foot, pressing and making it count when we're on top, but when we need to control a game in a different way, for example by controlling the ball, we end up making a mistake. We had so much pace with Sterling and Sturridge, and Suarez pressing relentlessly, that teams were afraid to come at us. Rodgers has tried to recreate a team in many different ways, but always needed to come back to the high tempo game to avert its failings.
          Are we winning?

We are slow, ponderous and predictable, less so with Cout on form, but overall, a EL side at best.
Sit back, limit your risk and aggression against decent sides and they will press all over you when you're in possesion and increase the turnabout in play, and thereby increase the pressure on your defence. At times in that second half you had Fellaini, Herrer, Young, Shaw etc hounding our defence with absolutely no outlet offered from our imbalanced midfield and isolated attack. We had Benteke, lurching around after yet another game with little service and Ings trying to run from the side with very impact........neither put their defence under as much scrutiny as they did to us when not in possession. Granted ManU work hard, but that is the minimum you need to afford time to play football..........they controlled large swathes of that game today, without really ever looking exciting in attack.

The prevailing thought seems to be that all we have to do is get rid of Skrtel and we'll be challenging for the League. 'Knowledgeable' fans, eh?

The goal is embarrassing but even before that I lost count at the amount of times he had 4,5,6,7 tiny touches of the ball, going nowhere before hoofing it down field or passing it back to Mingolet who did the same.

At one point in the 2nd half he's marking Fellani 5 yards deeper than everyone else in our box.
As I've posted before, check our final league positions in the years he's played 75% of the games.

It cannot be a coincidence, gone on too long.
The cunt should have dribbled the ball to the Manc penalty area and laid on a hatrick for Benteke; it's basic play for a CB and we're stuck with this dross.

                  Spot on.

A load of people won't see it but he is a constant issue and has been for ages.

United may be '****' but they can defend and win a game we cannot and the constant over the last few years has been Skrtel.

He's dreadful, spends his entire time dropping off and giving players space to attack; done it since he's been with us and it's never going to change.

Bloke works his arse off and that's fair enough but he's nowhere near good enough

He’s here! I *know* he’s here! That’s him, I’m telling you that’s him! You hear me? I’m telling you it’s *Keyser Soze*!

Skrtel ain't the problem lads. He is the least of our worries... A scapegoat for some but the root of the problem is the manager and his inability to set up our team. Once the midfield is in functional order and players playing in their proper position with a knowledge of what they have to do.... We'll be ok. Will that happen under Rodgers? I'm not so sure.

He made one mistake today that cost a goal, but a mistake that many defender has made and happens every week. Nobody has mentioned the amount of clearances he made today. He's a decent CB that needs to good and consistent partner.

A functional midfield would also be nice.

Not his biggest fan, but when played right he's a monster of a defender.

Ask a limited player to play like Danny Agger and you'll get a confidence shorn performance. Get him to play the basics or f**knhim off.
                                Forwards.......
