No point in us going around in circle about who is better than who, we're all pissed off at the moment.

What has happened though, is that we are seeing that this common denominator myth has been well and truly busted, thank **** for that. There is a fundamental weakness in our whole defence & the mentality is all wrong.

We need wholesale changes back there, we just keep bringing in sub standard defender after sub standard defender... it's crazy. IMO we've over rated certain players, whilst lambasting others, finger pointing seems in full swing... sure it's all Mignolet's fault these days now, poor **** belgian soft chocolate *******.

Like him or not, at least Skrtel has a bit of bollox & heart about him, which can't be said for the current crop of **** that is playing. Anyways, i'll exit this thread and I know what's coming my way.

Was Skrtel that bad under Rafa? Genuine question because I can't remember To me the problem is as much about what's in front and behind of the centre backs as it is the centre backs themselves. Stick Busquets or Mascherano in front of them and Neuer behind them and they'd all look like Baresi. Everyone knows it but our goalkeeper isn't good enough and bless him, Lucas (who i love) just isn't mobile enough to do it alone.

Can you think of a worse LFC back line in the last 20 years? Evans' teams of 93-98 were defensively more robust than this rabble. And it contained Ruddock, Babb, Kvarme, James etc.

What's the latest with Skrtel? Did he not start training again about a month ago?

If he was fit right now, do you think Klopp would pick him or will he no longer be first choice?

Our defence has looked much better at times without him, but equally we have been terrible other times too. Not too keen to see him back in the first team, but part of me is curious if Klopp could get him playing better.

Was on the bench a while back wasn't he? Or maybe I'm getting confused with him being in the training pics. The way Sakho, Lovren and Toure are playing he's got no chance unless there's a big dip in form or injuries. Beautiful to see our defence functioning as a unit now and not just 3 doing it while one runs back to kiss our goalie.

On the whole defensively we've been much better without him. It'll be interesting to see who the first choice CBs are next season with potentially Lovren, Sakho, Matip, Toure & Skrtel as the senior first choice players for 2 positions. We also of course have the likes of Gomez and Ilori as well

I'd imagine we'll be looking at a Matip/Sakho or Matip/Lovren central defence and I can see Skrtel & probably Kolo being moved on

Skrtel is a gonner. Lovren and Skrtel looks much more composed - both know to hold a line, when to push up and when to drop back. Skittles makes both nervous and error prone as he invites pressure.

Reading back, it sounds like I'm promoting getting him back in the team. I'm not though, just genuinely wondering where he is.
