Amongst all those West Ham players, he failed to mention their player of the season. I'm sure he too would have made a good signing for us.

    Oh, wait...
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Half of the forum was up in arms about spending £20m on Lovren and signing Balotelli (an rightly so )

Some people on here would be unhappy if we signed Messi for £10m on wages of £50k a week.

Johnson and Toure barely play so I wouldn't even bother trying to replace them like for like.
One of Wisdom, Coates or Ilori has to be able to do the Toure role of barely playing and when you do looking surprisingly competent before making an inexplicable slip straight out of the Titus Bramble big print book of defensive bloopers.

I agree to a certain extent, I'd rather judge a player on the merit of what you see rather than the stats. I mean Lovren has been shown by some rating to be the best defender in the PL this season Which clearly isn't right. Premiership proven or not means nothing as you say Lovren and Balotelli had premiership experience and stunk the place out. Suarez, Torres, Hyypia didn't have PL experience but bossed it from the start.

Personally I think the difference is finding players that suit the system you want to play, too often we have signed good players and don't know how to use them, or don't use them in a suitable way. We need to consider the system aswell as the ability of the players. My fear is that this summer we don't have a system so will have more of the same problems.

A concern about the meeting between FSG and Rodgers that the press believe will result in us bringing a director of football in is that this should have been done months ago, we should now know which players we are targeting this summer, the search for players shouldn't start when the season is over, and if we are bringing in a DoF presumably that will delay things.

I haven't read one compelling argument yet for retaining Brendan. The strongest I have seen is that he deserves it because he has the job, which is pretty much the same argument the Tories used to elect them back in and let George Osbourne continue with his supposed economic recovery.

I don't think sole responsibility lies with Brendan, and don't for a minute think that he should be the only person removed in order to restart and rejuvenate the club, but to continue with things the way they are after several consecutive disastrous transfer windows which have hampered him to a degree, coupled with his muddy tactical philosophy (which seems to be based on scrabbling about trying to find something), isn't sensible.

Just because someone has the job, doesn't mean they're the right person to continue in it. There are some great candidates who will be available this summer, who could take the club further - Brendan got us where we are now, its time to pass on the baton for the good of the club.

Everyone has seen all the evidence for and against that is in the public domain and formed their opinion on it. No one has anything else to bring to the table. I think most people are undecided but express a view one way or the other slightly reluctantly. Many of the problems at the club we don't really have insight into and thus can't say if Brendan is part of the problem or a part of the solution.

Well yeah, that's kind of a summary of all debate on any given subject across all forms of communication on the internet, isn't it?

So your point is that you haven't read an argument that is compelling TO YOU?
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"

Essentially yes. That's an expression of my opinion, placed under my false name on an internet forum, for all the difference in the world its going to make!

No. In most debates on the internet no one has seen/read any of the evidence.

Any other questions you can think of?

Brendan Rodgers faces an end-of-season meeting with Fenway Sports Group as they demand answers to why Liverpool’s season finished in failure.

While FSG did not expect Liverpool to challenge for the title this season, following the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona, it was hoped Rodgers would secure a top-four finish. Instead, Liverpool have flattered to deceive.

There is no indication that Rodgers’ job is under threat — FSG stressed after losing the FA Cup semi-final to Aston Villa that he was still their man — but he will be grilled by principal owner John W Henry, chairman Tom Werner and director Mike Gordon.

Meeting Rodgers will be part of a thorough review, particularly after FSG made their biggest investment ever in one transfer window last summer, when more than £110million was spent on eight players.

Here, Sportsmail picks out 10 questions Liverpool's owners may have for Rodgers.

                              1) We set out to finish in the top four, yet you later described our fifth-placed finish as ‘par’. What went wrong?

                              2) Of the nine summer signings, only Emre Can has been a clear success – albeit in a different position to what we bought him for. Why has the success rate been so low?

                              3) Mario Balotelli: £16m and four goals. What went wrong? And is anyone likely to pay anywhere near £16m to take him off our hands?

                              4) Our Champions League campaign was a disaster. Why?

                              5) The team often fell short in crunch matches this season, such as against Manchester United, Arsenal and Aston Villa in the FA Cup semi-final. Do they have a psychological weakness?

                              6) We started the season with a back four, had more joy with a back three and wing backs, before finishing unconvincingly switching between both. Do you know what your best team and formation is?

                              7) Have we done the right thing letting Steven Gerrard leave?

                              8) Should we sell Raheem Sterling if a large bid comes in?

                              9) Is Daniel Sturridge ever going to be fit enough to regain his form at Liverpool?

                              10) What investment do you think this team needs to finish in the top four?

Not sure why number 7 is even up for discussion. It clearly is the right thing. He doesn't contribute enough on the pitch anymore yet he want's to be on it everytime.

                                I'd add

                                11) United had a stumble that we could have capitalised on yet we didn't, why was that and did the players and staff think the race was over and take their eye off the ball?
