he shoulders the blame for me. His purchases playing where he tells them.

Yep. I'll gladly pile in with praise if he gets results with them. But I'll be more than happy to go the other way if we don't.
      Forwards.......

And Rickie Lambert could be put into the same category.

Tomorrow's game rests on Benteke for me. If he does something extraordinary - bangs in the winning goal then Rodgers can rest easy for a few games. If nobody rises to the occasion then Rodgers makes a significant descent on the downward spiral.

Lambert was an odd one. He's a good player, but was never suited to the way Rodgers likes to play. He was an option, or plan B, but even then never quite worked out.
              Are we winning?

He was our 1st signing of the off season that year so it was obviously discussed at length that we needed a plan B. But he never looked comfortable at a big club & I felt sorry for him. Then we panic buy Ballotelli, play Can & Markovic out of position & persist with Sterling as a striker = crazy decisions that cost us big time.

Sterling as a striker wasn't a bad move, especially with the options we had. He provided mobility and his defensive game as the first line of defense was excellent.

For all his huffing & puffing he didn't score that many & missed some absolute sitters too. Again Brendan played him as a lone striker which he does way too much for me. He could have done better if played with someone like Borini or off the shoulder of a target man like Lambert.

Sterling was our second top scorer last season. It wasn't a bad move given the circumstances.

What was his return then? 10/30 odd prem matches?

Not too bad for a one dimensional player isn't it?

He's a winger in my books & more suited to setting others up than actually scoring himself.

Sterling would have improved this season and he will continue to improve.

Sure but he's never going to be a lone striker like Brendan asked him to be for us. He should be played with an out & out strike partner IMO. Brendan had Balotelli, Borini & Lambert to partner him with or even Markovic but refused to do so.
