Whilst I agree with RedReet on the good things Rodgers did (getting the best from Suarez, making 4-4-2 a modern day formation again, etc) our defence was terrible. It's a fact that Rodgers is our worst post-war manager, conceding an average of 1.26 goals a game.

However, he was our most successful scoring manager and whether you put that down to Rodgers or Suarez our goal difference was relatively positive because of that.

His chat is often a toe-curling cringefest but he took us within a grounded stud of the title and had some semi-successful cup runs with both proving to be one step too far for him.

He came, he tried, he reinvigorated my love of football again, he ballsed it up and he moved on. I don't feel anger or hate towards him but nor would I defend him to the hilt in a pressure soaked bar room debate. Brendan is beige.

I can't make a case for us ever having a good defence while he was here and I didn't at the time either. I can't say the same for those that were licking his balls at the time, declaring him the second coming of Shanks, just to retract everything they ever said as if it never happened and give him no credit whatsoever.

This was another massive issue I had with him as he had the summer to re-invigorate his ideas, maybe try something new, and I was staying positive and supportive as a fan (benefit of the doubt etc...)

Once the new season started and it was the same old ****, that's when the penny dropped and in a way, it was a keyser soze moment when all the evidence feel into place.

It is hard to imagine things getting worse for him than they are right now - I'd say he has already used up one of his lives.

If he doesn't win the OF battles then his goose will be cooked. But he should be a good enough manager to prosper and bag the annual title for Celtic in Scotland.

After his failure with us & that opening fixture it's bad times for the chap. They'll beat the mighty Red Imps and push on from there IMO.

Sorry Dan, there is no way he's going to do well there. Putting his other faults to one side, he can't setup a defence. Without that, they're doomed. Our defending was genuinely one of the worst in the league while he was here and the only reason we didn't get relegated was because of the calibre of players we had as individuals to bail us out.

With the budget their working off in comparison to others, he is expected to get the title. I think it's bit OTT regarding Rodgers but sure we'll see how he goes. I have no ill will for him, he just wasn't good enough for us. Maybe Celtic is his level.
