Hamann was referring to a winning mentality. Its hardly surprising, the bloke is used to playing for us and winning things.

He is kind of right in what he said, but he needed to be aware that things take time. A few fans need to be aware of that.

Dominating a game at the Etihad and probably winning it if it wasn't for an individual error is a 'bad sign' how? He totally had no context to what he was saying in all honesty. A lot of the ex players are extremely snotty about Rogders, worse than many of the fans. I've heard some of them talk openly about it, like that cunt Houghton, sneering about how Rodgers "shouldn't try to con people into thinking he's reinvented the wheel" and that we always played like this. He just came across as extremely bitter and I get that feeling from many of them who can barely conceal their contempt for Rodgers.

I've heard Houghton say the same thing.

Rodgers has never claimed to have invented the pressing/passing style of football yet he's regularly beaten with that stick. It's not his fault he has a clear mehtodology he wants to play and adopt.

And I don't really remember seeing a consistent pass and move team over the last 20 years. Yes it's been the Liverpool way, but like many other aspects of the Liverpool Way, it barely existed up until this season

Champions would have closed that game out at 2-1 and seen the result though. But it wasn't too be. We are not Champions, we dont really have that mentality at the moment. We look like we are confident that we can hurt teams. But I am always dreading the 70 minute mark when concentration starts to slip.

I think Didi has got very high standards when it comes to Liverpool, which arnt a bad thing I suppose. But I dont see it as a criticism of the manager or team. Just something they need to work on.

Implying that everyone who supports the manager does it without question or regard to whats going on. That's wrong. Just because they support the manager doesnt make them blind.

On a different note, it's the first time I can remember this season when we constantly pressed high up the field and tried to win the ball back and force their defenders into mistakes. It worked too. Always thought that was the way we were going to play, but only seeing it now

Yep, it's been nowhere to be seen most of the time. Henderson makes a big difference to our pressing.

I still think we should have bought another defensive midfielder this window.

It would have helped us close the shop against City, and it would allow Lucas a rest.

In fact I would gladly have sacrificed a Coutinho purchase for a proper defensive midfielder.
I'm all for signing exciting Brazilian super technicians, but we badly need some steel in midfield - a 32 year old with experience, but no demand to play every game would have been an excellent fit IMHO.

We're going to repeatedly punch ourselves in the crotch for not trying to sign Sissoko for €2M. He covers Lucas and Gerrard at the same time as well as being another option to play attacking centre mid. A genuine all-round midfielder with talent for less than we probably pay for biscuits.
