Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Yes! It happened about an hour ago actually. The ****ing idiot didn't realise that I can take a verbal threat of leaving as a resignation.Originally posted by Chazza View PostYou are buzzing cos you just sacked someone mind

Totally agreeOriginally posted by Shaggy View PostThe fact we lost, drew and drew might undermine my point but I am taking massive encouragement from totally outplaying United in the 2nd half at Old Trafford, bossing Arsenal away and then playing City off the park on their own patch. As well as hammering weaker sides at Anfield I honestly think we are getting there, so credit to Rodgers. We'll see where we're at the end of the season but if we maintain this sort of form and buy well in the summer, I'm going to be quite excited about next season.
Personally I've been on board with the current plan since the start, possibly I was being optimistic at a time when the evidence was more dubious than I was making it out to be, and there are still a number of issues with the team/squad we need to resolve (ie the defence), but we have been growing into this season quite significantly and imo it is really possible to see where we're trying to go.
This current group (TM) is very young and only going to improve with experience, but we're starting to gain a cohesive sense of identity and direction in the way we play and how the squad is shaping up. We're not there yet but I think you're right, although the LFC path is never straightforward there really are good reasons to be optimistic about the future right now.I could not dig, I dared not rob:

Wouldn't say we bossed arsenal away, we should not have let a two goal lead slip but in the end a draw was probably a fair result. The team look a tad unsure what to do when we take the lead in these big games, the team has improved at keeping possession but struggles to do it calmy when we need to close out games. Defence is definitely an issue but I think it will be addressed in the summer and I'm quite happy with the majority of Rodgers signings, ( I still think Allen will come good but have reservations about Borini) so I share the general long term optimism but short term I don't think we can catch a Cl place. I'd be happy with a 5th or 6th place finish and a trip to the Europa league semi finals if not all the way.Y.N.W.A!!!!!!

Well. For me, early in the season we were controlling games but lacking a cutting edge in attack and a little weak at the back.
After the January window, Rodgers did what he said he'd do. Concentrate on the attack and improve it. Evident in all our games since really.
In the summer he has said he's look at the defence and further all round improvements. I really think that this squad is shaping up really nicely. I'm still hopeful Borini will come good for a bit of variation up top and Sterling & Suso will be better players for this season, as will Jonjo and others.
If the season started tomorrow I'd definitely see us finishing top 4. 9 points behind? Bit of an ask. But if we put teams away at Anfield like we have been doing, we have a real chance.Forwards.......

Sturridge has made a huge difference and Carragher has improved us slightly defensively. We are still too fragile at the back, this issue needs to be resolved if we're going to push on and improve on last season's league position. We've relied too heavily on youth players this season, not really Rodgers' fault. I think we have improved a little recently, but remain unconvinced.

The manager has adapted from what he wanted to do initially to what we could actually do. So we've been better balanced on the pitch andbits shown in some recent performances.
But the fanning article does raise some questions that the Rodgers fan brigade miss. The way he shifts blame onto everyone else but him is wrong, the Oldham game was his fault because were were too top heavy and we paid the price.
But the next day he comes out and rips the young players apart. That was very wrong even if he did have a point.
i agree 100% with fanning on the style over substance thing though. I think he's right about that where winning comes second to good football.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

His team selections lately have been spot on, the team is setting up well, responded well to the post-Oldham criticism.
In Brendog I trust.

Gone to the home of the Champions and pretty much dominated the game. Played well for 60 mins against Arsenal. Yesterday's game we deserved to and should have won. I thought we looked quite solid too. Going forward we looked good and he seems to have bought a gem in Sturridge who many fans called ****e

Outplayed City twice, should've beaten United at Anfield, Arsenal the other day and the derby. We're suffering because of bad individual decisions - not the manager.Originally posted by Sarb View Post

Rodgers fan brigade? Hope we aren't starting this crap again. People who support him are doing so because we are giving him an opportunity, showing patience and appreciating we've been pretty poor for quite a number of years and have no divine right to finish in the Top 4Originally posted by el matador View PostBut the fanning article does raise some questions that the Rodgers fan brigade miss. That isn't a fan brigade. That is fans being patient. Something we used to be renowned for for many many years.
Rodgers was absolutely right to tear into the team after the performance against Oldham. They had 1 win from their last 10, their striker could hardly score and we didn't turn up. Regardless of what team he picked, it was good enough to win that game. If he says nothing or praises the team, some would pan him still for just protecting his own poor players.
Personally, you just come across as you don't rate him. And Fanning's hatchet job is pretty pathetic too.

Just can't understand why some are still criticising Rodgers. We bossed the Champions at home. We didn't win it because of an individual error. Some just don't want to give him an opportunity
