I wonder if Coutinho can be our new Albert Riera where we had more balance on the wing by retaining possession and being able to move the general play forward?

Great performance and really liked the balance of the team

I don't think 4th is achievable but at the same time we are only 11 points off 3rd if we can turn these draws into wins we might do it

Today was best performance of the season we keep playing like that and cut out the individual errors we should start gaining some wins
I thought the goal was pretty much a tactical mistake by BR The left back went missing and Pepe thought best to close Agura down, The Jose Enrique substitution wasn't needed and he could of took off Sturridge and brought on Allen at that time to sure up the midfield and protect the defence.

It was a good game anyway and shows we are improving here and there..
I am looking forward to seeing what the new guy can do.

You cannot blame BR for Pepe coming out of goal like that or the cracking finish from Aguero.

So you know how Enrique's fitness was? He has just come back from a month of injury, I doubt he was in good shape to play the whole match.

Enrique was clearly tired. He got caught on the ball a couple of times and one he let roll out off his foot for a throw. He had to be taken off at that point.

Does seem that way doesn't it.

I think Rodgers is impressive tactically. He is not inflexible, always keeps the opposition guessing by slightly shuffling things around (Suarez's position for Arsenal and City - played as a left forward against the former and as a deep lying one against the latter).

All the criticism is very very harsh. There are some people who just don't like him and it all revolves around that, in short.

I thought the key test would be when City went to three at the back and brought Kolarov on. That would be when we'd see how Rodgers would adjust things in game. I might be wrong, but I think we just carried on attacking them and causing their back 3 problems rather than worry about Kolarov. It worked

So glad that Kolarov was on the bench. His corners and set-pieces are vicious

Not sure what there isn't to like about him? Think some see him as arrogant, but I think he just likes talking football and is a keen learner of the game. He's never professed to being the inventer of tiki-taka or whatever it is. Yet I can remember Craig Burley and a few other pundits accusing him of it.

He wants his teams to play football one way and sticks to his principles. That surely has to be admired

The problem is people who feel the need to classify others and pigeon hole them based on their views. I say think what you like and write what you like, these forums are all about opinion, subjective most of the time and I don't have any issues with it.

I still have my doubts about BR, but at the same time I believe he must be given sufficient time to implement his vision. There are times when I despair at the club and genuinely think it is over for us, but then we have weeks like this last week when progress is so obvious.

I reckon it's because he's non-controversial, tries to not say anything that papers can pick up on and run with for days on end and they were used to that with Rafa and Kenny - there was always a soundbite where a journo was being criticised or a snarky answer being given.

People want a manager they can either put on a pedestal (rightly or wrongly) or bury.

And it might not be a bad thing if he has an over inflated ego (which is still something that I'm very dubious of anyway as he hasn't looked like that at all to my eyes - think he's just honest and passionate).

The game against City shows that we're not short physically as some people have been saying. We have lacked a physical edge to our game in some games, that's about it, but lately our intensity and especially the control of games has been excellent.

I'm very excited about next season if we can carry this form until the end of the season and get 4th (or finish close to 4th).

Both Stevie and Carra are very important to our immediate future though and we need to protect them.

I understand what you mean but there will be moments this season when we'll play badly and lose or draw a game stupidly and it wouldn't mean that we are regressing or stagnating. It would just mean that we're not there yet and it would be perfectly normal IMO.

I wouldn't panic if we get another **** result as the signs that we're slowly becoming a very good team are obvious.
