A question for you...

Who was the last manager to win the English league without having done so at a previous club?

I'm guessing it was Howard Wilkinson with Leeds. Unless it was Wenger. It's a big ask for Rodgers even if we give him 5 years. Most other league winning managers in recent history won the thing in other (often lesser) leagues before coming to England.

Think you're right with Wilkinson actually, Wenger won Ligue 1 with Monaco in 1987-88.

I'm sure that soon enough you can add Moyes to that list. It's more that chairmen tend to get foreign managers who have been successful as opposed to gambling on British coaches without a track record of titles to their name.

He linked himself with the City job - I'm told he interviewed for it, and was under the impression for a while that he had it. Which didn't go down well at LFC.

It would jeaopardise everything if it was true and came out he'd done this, how could he look any player in the eye, any prospective signing..any of our top in demand players, and say stay and be part of what i'm building here.
