Liking Rodgers optimism - suspect he knows the score. He needs at the very least a legitimate challenge to the top 4.

Agreed, the targets Rodgers has given are ambitious but realistic. He has to back himself and his signings but he's not over-egging it by saying we're going to win the league. I see no reason why we can't finish in the top four next year, especially when you consider the changes in management that are currently taking place amongst our competitors.

Well, you see we're looking at probably finishing in the top half of the table next season. The group really see's that as our main target. But, obviously it would be lovely if we got to the last 16 of the cups. At least then we can say we gave it a good go.

So Rodgers has majorly misread fans' expectations twice, firstly by trying make us finish in CL and then (and I apologise to those with kids that might be reading) to win trophies.

It depends on the draw. That's all I meant by it. We could draw a League 2 side in the FA Cup away and get dumped out in the third round, or we could reach the semi-finals. As usual though, an innocent comment gets mocked.

Next season we are not in Europe so I would expect us to take the League Cup seriously.... We focked up against Swansea this season to be honest - could have had a semifinal against Chelsea which would have been good....

It will be interesting to see what we do next season, because not being in Europe means we won't have a huge amount of fixtures, but we will hopefully be expanding the squad. Rodgers hasn't really done (or had to do) any rotation this season, but next season with a stronger squad it may be necessary, it will be interesting to see how he and the team handle it.
