I guess Brendog has built up more credit with FSG. As far as I'm concerned, not so sure. Systemic frailties have infected us all 3 years- even when we were brilliant.Originally posted by G View PostSo then, what happens if we carry on in the league like this for the whole season yet win the league cup, same thing Kenny did but got sacked for?3rd place. Worst champions ever.

in brendans defence, we had to fill out the squad because it wasnt big enough. but you cant do that and bring in top quality (im not talking about adam lallana who i like) at the same time.
this year the squad is bigger, but the next two transfer windows we have to buy quality like reus, gundogan etc... we already have the quantity.

He does seem a bit clueless as to how to get his own system to work.
We have bought crap which has compounded the problems. Moreno is not a purchase I understand, as young players are always likely to be a defensive liability. I really think we needed more experience in there. May be great in a few years though.
Lovern. Well we thought he would be sound.
Markovic was an utter waste of money in my mind, Suso is just as good, and did a great job in a tougher league for a worse team.
Balotelli & Lambert. Don't really understand either purchase. If they did not fit into Rodgers preferred tactical setup, why bother?
Easy to have a go at the new players, but the old ones have been just as awful.
It still falls on Rodgers to sort it, as its more than just a couple of players misfiring. Tactically we are inept. There is no link between the attack and the midfield. In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

Does winning the League cup justify £100 million spent? ...let's see how things pan out with Sturridge coming back ....but results and performances HAVE to pick up.Originally posted by G View PostSo then, what happens if we carry on in the league like this for the whole season yet win the league cup, same thing Kenny did but got sacked for?

I think last season has given him plenty of credit but really, you'd be hypocritical not to sack him if the season turned out the same way, Kenny spent £100m the summer previous too. We played great football then tore it up with a **** summer. The parallels are disturbing.Originally posted by Bender View PostDoes winning the League cup justify £100 million spent? ...let's see how things pan out with Sturridge coming back ....but results and performances HAVE to pick up.Last edited by G; 01-11-14, 04:14 PM.

he tried his patient system in the first few months of his first year and we were utter dross, then coutinho and sturridge came along and we transformed into a counter attacking team. this is at complete odds to his keep ball vision.Originally posted by Charly View PostHe does seem a bit clueless as to how to get his own system to work.

last season we continued with this very direct style of play but it was never his vision on football. this season we bought in 2 wide players in markovic and lallana to add to coutinho and sterling.
why would you have four players for one position if mario and daniel are the starting pair. i believe what we are seeing now is what rodgers is trying to implement - his 433, with one up top and 2 out wide but it hasnt worked for us.
