Yeah Zenden was at Chelsea with Rafa but had no badges at the time. Sami hasn't got a great managerial record but that doesn't mean he won't be a good coach. Plus it's Sami and there is not one fan of Liverpool FC who wouldn't want to see him back in some capacity, he's a ****ing legend, in the very proper sense.

IIRC it was said when he came that he was great in the dressing room getting people together etc. I think one of the things we needed last season was someone like that who could also calm people down and articulate tactics. I doubt Rafa would have had him around if that wasn't something he could do. He may be a good person to have in the setup even if we have to have other coaches as well.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostHe was, and I don't think he's doing anything at the moment. He's been there and done it at a host of top clubs so in that respect it makes sense, but as usual we have no idea about his coaching or whatever."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Tbh i think i'm more happy with the Zenden link, Sammi is more of a fav obv, and the defence needs some input, but i liked what i heard Zenden say when i've heard him talk about coaching on the radio, quite considered and clear, and he was a flair type player so suits the style were looking to play.
Whether he's actually able to empart that onto players on the training pitch is another thing.Last edited by Vermilion; 06-06-15, 09:51 AM.

Agreed. I think he speaks 3 or 4 languages too.Originally posted by dww View PostIIRC it was said when he came that he was great in the dressing room getting people together etc. I think one of the things we needed last season was someone like that who could also calm people down and articulate tactics. I think Sami could also offer that tbh.Originally posted by dww View PostIIRC it was said when he came that he was great in the dressing room getting people together etc. I think one of the things we needed last season was someone like that who could also calm people down and articulate tactics. One of my favourite players.
Not sure how good or bad a coach Sami is tbh. He did well enough at Bayer for two seasons imo and he was sacked after Bayer finished fourth in the Bundesliga.
He had a bit of a mare at Brighton & Hove Albion though and he resigned after only six months which I am not sure what to make of as it might suggest he knows when he is not good enough or that he would walk when things are tough.
Would have him over the likes of Carragher though as Sami has his coaching badges and, unlike Carragher, Sami has actual first hand coaching experience. Plus I think would be a much calmer head to have around players and I think the fact he would have played with very few of our current squad would be a bonus.
Carragher I think would have the potential to become another Roy Keane type number two or number three. He has tons of experience as a player, but nothing at all when it comes to coaching and would have my doubts if he would the right sort of personality for a coaching role when things are not going well.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

the appointments of the backroom staff will tell us whether this is a proper re-evaluation of our technical / tactical capabilities or whether its just a PR exercise.
to me its looks like the latter.[B]Sir Isaac Newton knew the universal law of karma - any action has its equal and opposite reaction.[B]

I imagine this is just an educated guess but it's a good shout - he's very highly rated at the club apparently.Jay Riley @Jay_78_
Plenty of talk who will take over from Mike Marsh & Colin Pascoe on #LFC backroom staff. One with a chance for promotion is Alex InglethorpeThanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
