Why would they not sack him now rather than wait till the start of the season, where it would be too late or difficult to find a replacement then? He's clearly NOT a dead man walking, just had probably been told he had to reassess what went wrong. Now, whether he's directly responsible or not with Pascoe and Marsh leaving isn't very clear, but looks like someone somewhere is starting to address the reasons why the team's performances fell so lamentably over the last 2 months of the season when we were building up to a very good finale.Originally posted by marcus50bucks View PostRodgers was reassured his job was safe but has been forced to accept changes to his backroom team to maintain the Reds hotseat.
Rodgers is a dead man walking. It's as clear as day. His power is being slowly diminished and is now just a head coach.
To be fair to Rodgers and reading posts on here, I find it extremely harsh the reactions of some people. Before the cataclysmic defeat to United, we were arguably the best team in the league. Are we winning?

I fully expect to hear of a "head of something football director-ish" being installed over the summer.
Doesn't mean Rodgers is a goner, just means that if/when he goes the club will still have a figure who implements the broader strategy. Whether Rodgers survives will be entirely down to how well he coaches the first team squad. Nothing else.

I don't have a problem with Pascoe and Marsh carrying the can once it became clear Rodgers was safe. We needed to make some changes and that's exactly what we are doing, whether we can be trusted to bring the right people remains to be seen but from the outside looking in, Pascoe and Marsh didn't look upto the job and I've got no issue with them going.
As for Rodgers position I don't think his hand is weakened, he must have known on Tuesday this would happen but I do question why we waited until today to pull the trigger, I fully expect members of the transfer committee and scouting department to followKurtangled in the McFadden thread 16/01/08

Be hard to see why he'd quit a team who have thrived under his stewardship and are in the Champions League - remember in Spain the gap between the biggest four and esp the top two and the rest is pretty damned big so the riches from a decent CL run will have the potential to move the club from nearly men to a competitive Top 4 side. His recent visit to Liverpool was just to tidy up the Aspas transfer and nothing more I'd say.Originally posted by Daniel 7 View PostWonder if it will be Monchi from Seville.

Anyone think FSG said to Rodgers, 'ok you can carry on but we're going to sack your coaching team of Pascoe and Marsh', with the thought that Rodgers wouldn't accept this and tender his resignation. But instead he said, 'yes thats fine i have the character to carry on without them'.He’s here! I *know* he’s here! That’s him, I’m telling you that’s him! You hear me? I’m telling you it’s *Keyser Soze*!
