I think they probably held him (and the team) back and better coaches will lead to better performances.

Doubt it. I'm sure they prepared for that eventuality but i think their main aim is to improve the management setup. Bringing in a stronger team surrounding the manager is a logical way to improve the results while keeping continuity in the playing style, and if things go pear shaped we have the continuity of the DoF. Plus it's probably the most sensible gamble considering all the money we've spunked on players who'd probably need to be replaced with a new manager. I think they'd have no problems hooking him if they'd lost all faith but this is surely his last chance.Hello mert.

I think if FSG wanted to fire Rodgers, he would be out. They dont seem to be the dithering type. I think they like his ideas and want to give him one last chance with maybe a different coaching setup.Originally posted by Keyser Soze View PostAnyone think FSG said to Rodgers, 'ok you can carry on but we're going to sack your coaching team of Pascoe and Marsh', with the thought that Rodgers wouldn't accept this and tender his resignation. But instead he said, 'yes thats fine i have the character to carry on without them'.

It's just speculation at the moment. Why have the owners though suddenly decided to replace the coaching staff? In FSG's circle would seem to be the combined football knowledge of a seven year old United fan in Australia. That is probably being generous. They have suddenly decided that the way to solve the problem is to sack the coaches around Ned Stark and replace him with a few guys that from their respective huge knowledge will do a better job? I dunno but it seems like someone has said he is happy to have Rodgers as head coach but wants to bring in his own background team.Originally posted by Gazzla View PostWhy do people think Rodgers will be working under a director of football?

I think even a seven year old United fan in Australia would realize the coaching staff needed to go.
It's a little bit more complicated to decide whether Rodgers is better than Klopp.

As of November last year Carra hadn't even considered starting his badges.Originally posted by topscorer View PostIs he doing his badges?
I think he always said he wanted to get into the coaching side at some point?
Seemed miffed that Rodgers hadn't offered him a role anyway which just about sums it upThe King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

As for Rodgers position I don't think his hand is weakened, he must have known on Tuesday this would happen but I do question why we waited until today to pull the trigger, I fully expect members of the transfer committee and scouting department to follow
to the Pascoe and Marsh not looking up to the job and having no issue with them going.
Seriously, if we were on the lookout for new coaches, as we are now, and there was news that Pascoe and Marsh were the new coaches arriving, would there be a new thread full of excitement at their appointment? A new thread hailing our new world class coaches?
I somehow don't think there would.

pascoe and marsh, and the ex goalkeeping coach, what a shambles.
why did brendan have to have his hand forced, couldnt he see for himself that they were not good enough.
makes you wonder if brendan is as switched on as he makes out.
time for us to get some experienced heads back on the coaching team. maybe also the DoF we have needed.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

I think there is a valid desire to have a managerial team that some how embodies the club. All successful sides in the PL have had that, I don't think Rodgers has the type of charisma of Fergusson, van Gaal, Mourinho or Wenger. Someone associated with past successes has some of that aura I think which could help boost Rodgers.Originally posted by The Birdman View PostI just want Marsh's replacement to be the best guy we can get.
Don't give 2 ****s about it being an ex player.
Will our obsession with the past ever end?
I agree though that we have to look to get the most appropriate coaches we can find.
I think we could do worse than Sammy Lee and a specialist defensive coach."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Interesting perspective, I agree that this really could be the making of Rodgers.Originally posted by npinn001 View PostTo be fair to him, in my experience in business, a really good leader gets better people surrounding him, and guides and leads the group in their chosen style. Its brave to say its not working and get in coaches who could me much more respected around the world than him. But thats the sign of a good leader - you dont need to be the best at everything, just guide and direct in your style.
This to me is Rodgers transitioning finally from the small time (no offence - Swansea) to becoming a Liverpool standard manager. IF, and big IF, he gets the right people in.
Get in two or three top european coaches with lots of contacts, and well respected etc and all of a sudden he will look much more becoming of a Liverpool manager."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."
