I think what it boils to down to is whether you think the Rogers "thing" and everything that goes with it is bull**** or not. That's the decision FSG have to make.

The problem with silly posts like these, is that people react to them, you get upset and then 2 months later a mod has to trawl through posts to understand why you were being 'abused' that timeOriginally posted by The_weatherman View PostI don't think he handles the press all that well actually, I cringe at every interview. He wants Benteke and Ings, and I just can't see it working. Our front four will be Sturridge (when fit), Origi, Ings and Benteke, not exactly going to strike fear into the best of teams.
Did Rodgers tell you Benteke and Ings are his absolute number one targets?I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

Manager of the Year
Closest we have been to winning the Lg in practically a lifetime for some
Yes but that is proving to be a flash in the pan - best chance we had in years due to the inability of those around us & we still blew it
The most entertaining football not only for liverpool but any team in the lg
Not this season - lets not live in the past
Has nurtured a number of wonderful young talents
Coutinho & Sterling who now wants to leave?
Handled the Suarez affair sublimely
Wasn't really given a choice though was he & I think FSG did well rather too
Handles the press wonderfully
I think he comes across as smarmy but that's just my personal opinion - besides most managers go through enough media training to handle the press
Give the man some bloody working strikers and lets see what this team can do ...
Klopp is likely not available .... therefore I say stay the course ... This team just needs some decent Strikers ... we have had none all season
Besides, the money he did spend on strikers he bought a Championship player & a waste of space nut job, never mind the £12/13M on Borini....Last edited by Yozza; 26-05-15, 10:18 AM.What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

Everything points towards us going for Benteke and Ings, the press usually has a good handle on our targets. Do you think we are not in for them?Originally posted by Fierce View PostThe problem with silly posts like these, is that people react to them, you get upset and then 2 months later a mod has to trawl through posts to understand why you were being 'abused' that time

I think we have owners that will go for the cheaper option which is to keep Rodgers, he probably won't get a lot of money to spend this summer either. I don't think they care about us as much as some may think and will look to sell us not long after the stadium is built. No top manager will want to come here with fsg unwilling to change their current model imo.

This post sums up my feelings on the situation
There seem to be so many issues surrounding the club a the moment its difficult where to start. For me whether Rodgers stays or goes is pretty irreverent when for me the bigger issue surrounds what FSG have planed for the club.
This summer will tell us a lot for their plans for the club. An ambitious owner would be livid in investing over £100m in signings over the summer regardless of net spend to finish 6th. Kenny and Comolli were fired for less in my book.
If FSG decide to fire Rodgers and hire a proven manager who is ambitious and has won titles / trophies then fair enough.
If FSG decide to retain Rodgers but fire the ridiculous transfer committee and hire a proven world renowned DOF then fair enough.
If FSG decide to retain Rodgers keep their transfer committee yet fire Ayre and hire a renowned senior football executive then although for me it wouldn't be enough at least it would some ambition and being proactive.
However if as been reported in the papers today that Rodgers job is safe, there wont be any major changes to the set up then I have huge concerns going forward.
***The following is my opinion and my opinion only. I do not have any inside knowledge of the club or FSG.***
If there are no major changes this summer then for me I would guess FSG are not interested in competing for trophies. They are more interested in maximising revenue streams with a view of selling in the future.
I see their model of signing young players to develop here with a view of selling on as a profit. Suarez went for a nice profit as will Sterling. I expect Coutinho to be the next star signing sold the following summer with the hope the likes of Ibe, Markovic, Moreno etc develop here and can be sold on at a profit.
I personally feel they would be happy with constant Europa League qualification where our younger players can show case their talents being sold to the bigger clubs down the line.
I do believe they have tried to sign more established players to complement this strategy however they have got it massively wrong bringing in the likes of Lovren, Lambert, Balotelli etc. Why have they got this massive wrong whether its identifying the wrong players or not prepared to pay a large transfer fee and wages for a player. It seems to be one or the other.
For me they are dangerously close to turning Anfield into nothing more than a tourist attraction. Come see the famous Anfield where Liverpool used to compete for titles and trophies. This is where Liverpool had famous nights etc. From the owners point of view as long as the revenue comes in I don't believe they will care about the atmosphere but all we do as a club is talk about how we are a big club yet how we act on the pitch and our ambition says otherwise. Like the colosseum Anfield is in danger of being a famous attraction that once held titantic battles where history was made rather than talked about.
On the pitch I also have massive worries. Where are the leaders? What happened against Stoke has been coming for a while there is no fight in the players. Where are the winners on the pitch. For me our younger players should be looking up to our senior players but here isn't any. We need winners we need a captain also. Henderson is a decent player but for me he shouldn't be captain. From the current squad I only see Sakho as potential captain material.
Then there is also the real concern if the manager has lost the dressing room. If he has and we start the season in the same manner we ended this one forget the toxic atmosphere I would be more worried with us sliding out of the top 10 let alone the Europa league places. There is a lot to ponder this summer and the decisions we make structurally could prove critical for years to come.

I also don't understand why we didn't try to play with strikers, like pairing Borini and Balotelli or Borini and Lambert for a period of games. Better than playing no striker and 7 non-goalscoring midfielders.
Players have let him down but Rodgers has to take blame for many of the reasons you have cited aboveBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

You are only as good as your last gameOriginally posted by RichC View PostRegardless of whether we replace Rodgers or not he managed the previous season to take us to 2nd and the closest we've come to the title in 25 years or is that irrelevant?

Yeah can see how a person could have such worries about the club, it is a bit of a bummer that this far into the new onwership, we still seem to be running around putting out fires, instead of being known for being organised and totally professional.Originally posted by marcus50bucks View PostThis post sums up my feelings on the situation

We are putting out fires, but they are much smaller and manageable than they used to be.Originally posted by Vermilion View PostYeah can see how a person could have such worries about the club, it is a bit of a bummer that this far into the new onwership, we still seem to be running around putting out fires, instead of being known for being organised and totally professional.
At least we have stable owners who have a plan. Remember them lads from 5 years ago. Unstable with no plan

I appreciate what you're saying but we can't always say "well, at least the ain't Hicks&Gillett" H&G are the worst owners in history of sport and we should compare to someone else and not use them to get our current ones off the hook when needed, having said that, let's see what what intend to do about the situation before placing them on the hook.Originally posted by Alex View PostWe are putting out fires, but they are much smaller and manageable than they used to be.

Do you not think the bigger picture is important though? My point was that we are making progress, no matter how small.Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostI appreciate what you're saying but we can't always say "well, at least the ain't Hicks&Gillett" H&G are the worst owners in history of sport and we should compare to someone else and not use them to get our current ones off the hook when needed, having said that, let's see what what intend to do about the situation before placing them on the hook.
I dont know if changing the manager will help that progress or hinder it though.*Except Michael, who died.
