Nah, Rodgers takes all the blame for what happens on the pitch IMO. He bought the players, played some of them all over the pitch and came out with ridiculous soundbites, handled the Gerrard situation poorly IMO and as way too much faith in Lovren (his signing btw) for my comfort. I also don't understand why we didn't try to play with strikers, like pairing Borini and Balotelli or Borini and Lambert for a period of games. Better than playing no striker and 7 non-goalscoring midfielders.* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

I think the next few weeks will be telling with regards FSG, the model they're trying to implement is based on success on the pitch that's how the money will flow from sponsorship deals etc.. If they don't think Rodgers is that man they'll pull the trigger and much the same with anyone involved at the club such as Ayre.
I think this is the rub, nothing has happened yet. We live in the digital age where if things don't happen nearly immediately people begin to freak out. As a club though, and to be fair to our supporters, we do have something of a reputation for fannying about in deals and negotiations.Originally posted by RichC View PostExactly, let's see what they do. They've several options open to them at the moment and nobody on the footballing side of LFC is in a particularly strong position at the moment.
Its a cowardly manager that puts responsibility on to the team he has created, and to be fair Rodgers hasn't done that.Originally posted by Slinky Skills View PostI know people are calling for the chop here and possibly rightly so however it's not all down to Rodgers. The players are culpable here for a pretty much no show for the entire season.
They've let him, us and themselves down with their lack of heart and fight and for lads that are on around 150k a week that is simply not good enough. Yes you can question Rodgers decisions and formations of course, ultimately the players are the ones on the pitch and they are the ones that need to perform. Even if you don't know what formation you play that is no substitute for putting in a lack of heart and passion.
Moving forward into next season if Rodgers is still here which I imagine he will be, I am certain we won't see many displays as bad as that as it simply won't be tolerated.
I can't listen to the 'it's the players fault' excuse, because one man manages, trains, motivates and sends them out onto the pitch. The team and manager take the accolades when we win (the press were eulogising about Brendan last season) and when we lose it is the manager who fronts it up. That's the gig. If Brendan gets the chop, he really can have no complaints.Modifying post.

FSG need to stop with their bitch arse moves as far as I'm concerned. Stop leaking stories to the press (which they clearly have been doing) saying Rodgers is safe and be decisive by coming out and confirming he is 100% staying instead of hiding behind their sofas in Boston. It's not difficult is it? Werner had no problem saying they still had faith in Dalglish back in 2012. Surely they must know speculation is wild over here that Rodgers's job is on the line so they could easily dismiss speculation. But no, they prefer to leak to the press like cowards.
I'm cool with Rodgers staying as you guys know but the cynic in me makes me feel their reason for keeping him is because he is their yes man and it will be too expensive to sack him and the rest of his backroom staff. If there are no viable options i.e no Rafa, Ancelotti or Klopp then fair enough but I don't believe that's their reason for keeping Rodgers.

Totally agree, the entire club from owners to management seem to be obsessed with recreating the wheel. What they are attempting to do needn't be as complicated as all that. We are one of the biggest clubs on the planet, with a global and loyal fanbase.
I think they still play the stato game too much, an approach which definitely works in a game like Baseball where the entire game is based on the repetition of one act, and not as well in a game like football.Modifying post.

We are trying to keep the debate on more of a even footing. Its hard though as Im sure you can appreciate.Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostI haven't said it mind, kept very quiet the past few months on purpose. I admit I didn't think he'd lose the plot again though after he turned it around. My point is, when people voice concerns or different opinions, maybe next time mods could step in a bit more next time.
Blanket statements with little to no thought and "I told you so's" are hard to Mod though, because they are not inherently against site rules.
Anyway, ill derail the thread if I talk about this. So Ill stop

Klopp and now Ancellotti out of work, be honest, if we were making the decision now and BR hadn't been appointed yet, and we had the choice of these three, who would you want ?
I'm just finding it hard to say stick with BR, i appreciate i could be wrong believe me, but if we could get either of the other two i would.
Why do i feel bad saying that ffs?! crazy! I'm worrying about the feelings of a millionaire who'll probably walk straight back into a job somewhere else!.

If we go another season with Rodgers it will be the same, I'm certain of it. We need to cut loose and get a new manager in be it Klopp, Ancelotti, De Boer or someone else. Rodgers isn't going to crack this, I'm certain of it.Originally posted by Vermilion View PostKlopp and now Ancellotti out of work, be honest, if we were making the decision now and BR hadn't been appointed yet, and we had the choice of these three, who would you want ?

It's not irrelevant, it probably bought him the second part of this season. But the last season was a disaster on so many counts, I can't find a single positive on the pitch. FSG need to make a decision, do they think BR is the man to take the club forward or not. Personally I don't think he is and I don't think we should a waste a whole season to find it out. If they think he is they need to back him like any other because otherwise he's hamstrung and fails either way.Originally posted by RichC View PostRegardless of whether we replace Rodgers or not he managed the previous season to take us to 2nd and the closest we've come to the title in 25 years or is that irrelevant?* The above is posted in my opinion. Closest we have been to winning the Lg in practically a lifetime for some
The most entertaining football not only for liverpool but any team in the lg
Has nurtured a number of wonderful young talents
Handled the Suarez affair sublimely
Handles the press wonderfully
Give the man some bloody working strikers and lets see what this team can do ...
Klopp is likely not available .... therefore I say stay the course ... This team just needs some decent Strikers ... we have had none all season
Anybody who criticizes Klopp ever is a James Blunt. Nov 2015

I don't think it's irrelevant, but it's nerely moot.
And that's due to the absolute lack of direction, consistency, identity that we have after our biggest transfer spend ever. Signing so many players and playing them out of position? Why?
Take the Stoke game in isolation, why did he stick with Can at right back until half time? We were 5 nil down by then. Asses the game, identify the problem, make the change. Time after time Brendan fails to do that. Sticking with him because he used to be able to get it right is absolute folly. We've been getting turned over by some utter mid table dross and novice managers like Timmy Sherwood. Once is unlucky, twice unfortunate, but the amount of occasions we've lost without fight is unforgivable.
We've gone backwards in such a way that the good work has been entirely un done, and Brendan can blame nobody but himself for that.Modifying post.

I don't think he handles the press all that well actually, I cringe at every interview. He wants Benteke and Ings, and I just can't see it working. Our front four will be Sturridge (when fit), Origi, Ings and Benteke, not exactly going to strike fear into the best of teams.Originally posted by False9 View PostManager of the Year
