I had a similar thought, but when I read your post and Shanks' post that followed and maybe it won't be a true indication. I guess all these structures FSG put in place are there to ensure a seamless transition between managers (if the situation arises).Originally posted by peekay View PostThe January window will give us an indication of how much support Brendan has from FSG.
If he is not backed in the transfer market in January with press leaks of how FSG are unhappy with the summer spending, then I think the chances of Rodgers being fired at the end of the season is very high.
i.e. A manager goes, but our recruitment team remain to ensure our transfer strategy continues; Our youth set up and reserve teams, all keep operating as normal, etc ... it's just business as usual, but without a coach.
I'm pretty sure John Henry has alluded to this too; Our infrastructure will be solid, meaning the club won't suffer if they tweak the coaches, etc. Therefore, if FSG spend in January, it will be because the club needs it, not because they are backing Rodgers.

i don't know why many are so inclined to believe that every manager we got is impeded by some idiot who prevents him from buying the players he really wants who of course would be a success.
fact is we are also rans in the transfer market. we don't get the young top talent that clubs queue to sign. we neither get the proven top class players that clubs queue to sign.
so we've got to take our chances. we can go for young, unknown, unproven talent. but they need time to develop. we can go for those who clearly have talent but so far failed at top clubs. it might pay off, then again it mightn't. it'll be hit and miss and most of all it'll take time to tell.
or go for proven mediocre players who give you just that.
sometimes it works and you build a brilliant team with a very low outlay, like dortmund did or maybe atletico. and then the big hitters come along take it all away from you.
the idea that rodgers, rafa, kenny (whoever you wanna name here) would have created a title winning team, a dynasty, if he only had his way in transfer dealings is a bit deluded imo. as is writing off our new boys and rodgers already.

I think they'd seen enough of Charlie Adam hoofing balls towards Andy Carroll while Jay Spearing scuttled around in midfield to no great effect. I think that was enough "gelling" for any sane person to put up withOriginally posted by Bender View Postis this the same FSG who sacked Dalglish and didn't allow him the time for his team to gel

They should sell us or did sell us?Originally posted by S-RED View PostI had a dream last night that FSG should us to a mega rich group from the middle east.
That is all I rememberKlopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

Always, keep your face to the sun, and shadows will fall behind you.

Dont know about that. But I think if no player comes in during January when we badly need a couple, I think it maybe an indication that FSG are taking a step back potentially for saving money for a new management team ( either the transfer committee or Brendan). It happened with King Kenny's last season. We had the splurge in the summer and previous January. The next January, I dont think we had a single player come in. March or April, Commoli was sacked followed by King Kenny in May.Originally posted by Shanks View PostAre we talking Rodgers being backed by HIS wants, or transfer committee saying this is what you can have??

There should be a massive improvement for the outlay yes. Obviously, it was likely that we'd be unable to replace the spark that Suarez gave us upfront, but I'm 100% with you that we should be hugely more capable in midfield and defence, which we're not.Originally posted by Robbie-9-Fowler View PostPoor results continue and we get knocked out of the CL then come January they'd have every right to make the change really. At the moment we look no better than we did 2 years ago and with the amount we've shelled out thats pretty scary really.
That's what makes me so pissed off with Rogers at the moment, the money spent with no improvement in any part of our play, quite the opposite in fact.Last edited by tanner; 20-11-14, 02:24 PM.SakhoPotatoes

Totally agree, but our ****ed up strategy excludes some amazing players because we won't pay the wages! Go figure.Originally posted by tanner View PostThere should be a massive improvement for the outlay yes. I would rather we spent £60m this summer on 2 top players and paid them the kind of salary required to secure their services. Would have made the difference to us and put us in the same bracket as the likes of Chelsea and City, rather than Spurs and Newcastle."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Its difficult to make any one judgement on the way things are done at Anfield without knowing from an insider. Some say that we can't attract top players because of the location or our recent history, some say we won't pay the wages required whilst others say its a combination of those things combined with the policy of buying young talent with one eye on future transfer value.Originally posted by Tee View PostTotally agree, but our ****ed up strategy excludes some amazing players because we won't pay the wages! I personally think we'll pay good wages, just look at Mario. I'm sure that there are some very good strikers out there who'd love to earn £150k a week. The Suarez salary was a bit of a publicity stunt I think, I don't think we offered him £280k a week believing that he'd be here for long.
I agree with you completely about bringing in a couple of top class players though, the balance of players brought in never sat right with me from the off.
You'll never be able to replace Suarez, but if you added a couple of top level players to the side, it would spur on those playing around them, but none of those coming in have that factor, in fact, those players thave have come in are probably looking up to the current squad, and that's an issue in itself.SakhoPotatoes
