The nature of Gerrard's performances echoes all thats wrong with us at the moment. The occasional couple of minutes of brilliance injected into 90 minutes of mediocrity and anonymity.
If he's not able to lead by example for 90 minutes as he used to, then just who else is? We don't actually have anyone at the moment who you'd consider world class and at the top of their game. Not even close, and those who have reached their potential are miles off being considered great players.
We lack a quality leader for sure, but the biggest problem for me is that Brendan replaced Suarez with a bunch of players who were probably looking up at the players already in the squad. In my mind he needed to introduce at least 2 players who have the experience and quality for others to look up to. As it happens, the level of players we've introduced probably look up to Sterling, and that's bananas.SakhoPotatoes

If FSG decide that the rot has set in and Brendan isn't turning this around they won't hesitate in sacking him. Why would they hesitate ??
The longer a failing manager stays in the job the more long team damage they'll do so it's best to be decisive and end the misery. They did it with Hodgson and they did it with Dalglish who even though he won a Cup FSG rightly recognised that he was too old and out of touch to take the team forward.

Firstly I'd like to dissagree with the Bascombe article...i don't think this years transfers have all been a disasteer, they just have not been used right and enough.
Most of them will come good as they are young and have massive potencial.
Secondly regarding some saying our lack of pressing is down to Suarez not being there, it's not, well it's not just that.
Under Rodgers, we do not play the offside trap anymore, which is understandable becasue of his inabillity to coach any sort of cohesion into our back line, therefore they have to be positioned closer to our goal, which in case means our midfield and attack have to move further back aswell, giving the opposing team more space in their half.
Now this was mended last season because Sturridge, Suarez and Sterling had in them the pace to scare the **** out of any teams defence and midfield and not allow them to create attacks from the back, some of those problems will be solved with Sturridge coming back, but getting a defensive coach who'd sort our defensive shape would be a long term solution to that problem.Jürgen Klopp

Results are the most important thing but you can't get good results long term if your transfer business is **** and Brendan is finding that out now. What we're seeing now is the accumulation of one dreadful transfer window after another, up until recently we had SAS to paper over the cracks.Originally posted by Sarb View PostTeams like West Ham, Newcastle spend fractions of what we do. Newcastle sell their best player every season. So why do so many people blame our current problems on transfers and signings? Some of these teams barely have a squad

agree that some/most of the new signings will come good, but the issue is we needed first team ready players to improve the starting 11, with the other players then being turned into the squad fillers.Originally posted by SlovenianKopite View PostFirstly I'd like to dissagree with the Bascombe article...i don't think this years transfers have all been a disasteer, they just have not been used right and enough.

lovren and lallana were supposed to be our sure fire first team ready players.
the rest, money spent on potential, is what has screwed us. that money should have brought in 2-3 top quality players who would have been guaranteed starters.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

we needed some first team players, lovren and lallana and balo were meant to be that and failed. Therein lies the problem not with Can, Moreno and Marković.
