He had broken ribs when he played last time out for us. It's not an issue and he'll be in the squad for MUFC.

Also I think that Ajax, Juve, and Porto have a similar system in place so it is not an uncommon thing amongst successful clubs. I agree that the right people are needed for it to work very well, but the same could be said for any transfer system be it reliant on one person or a team of people.
There are many ways of doing it. They all depend on having someone with a good eye for players. If you don't have that, or don't get them at the right price, it's a flop.

No method is foolproof, other than maybe Bayerns way of buying the best players in their league from their direct rivals. Strengthen them & weaken the opposition. Job done.

I know there is no foolproof method, I am simply stating that the comment about there being no clubs that successfully use the committee system is incorrect.

To be honest if we are to continue down the route of a committee picking players I am not sure that there is anyone at our club that I would want on the committee save for whoever the manager at the time is. Some may say what about Kenny but I would suggest that buying expensive flops like Downing and Carroll along with paying over the odds for the likes of Henderson puts some doubt over Kenny's eye for players nowadays.

I suppose the alternative is to let the manager pick the players, and then let the moneymen see if they can trash out a deal with the other club with regards to a transfer fee. But that still boils down to needing someone with a eye for the right players.

There are no one right answer and our current form is just making us supporters that bit more antsy about every little detail than we normally would.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

The only reason people oppose a committee is because its difficult to know who to blame. Teams are either successful or not largely based on their ability to recruit correctly.

Newcastle have had a decent run from buying players largely from the influence of one chief scout. West Ham have forced players on Big San due to being fed up with his brand of football and have struck gold seemingly. So'ton lost a whole host of key players & haven't dropped a level.

Does it matter if we as fans don't know whose to blame? Not really. Why should we need a scapegoat ? FSG will be aware & it's up to them to decide if heads should roll.

I wouldn't be shocked if that was true. They showed no remorse in Baseball with the Red Sox. But if it is true, he must be hanging by a thread right about now. Ian Ayre probably said hold out purely because the only option right now would be Rafa. Can't imagine we could get anyone else in mid season.

                On Mario Balotelli returning

The Italian striker, a £16m summer signing from AC Milan, has missed Liverpool's past six games with a groin injury.
Rodgers said: "He's been out for a little while now, but in the last couple of days he's looked good in training.
"We'll give him every chance to see if he can come into the squad."

                On Raheem Sterling's contract talks

The England winger was reported in the Daily Telegraph as being unhappy with the offer of a new contract worth £70,000 a week.
Rodgers said: "It's up to the club and his representatives to sort out the deal, but there's no unhappiness."

                    Should Rodgers be sacked?
If he gets us playing with some sort of playing style, picking up results along the way more often than not, then let him be until the end of the season.
If he keeps playing defensive, try to contain disjointed football & not getting the results then let him go.
Id rather see us attacking and trying to win and lose than sitting back (especially to weaker teams) playing rubbish football & lose!
Thats where i'm at. I hope he still has his attacking instincts from last season & turns it around because i want a manager here for a long period & not changing every few years.

Collymore has far far too much to say imo, too many outlets for his ****ty 'shouty' opinion!

Gets right on my tits he does!!

**** never converses, his points are always put across as if it's gospel, because he said it so it must be right! Disagree and he repeats it; just louder!

Ultimately football is a results business, on the pitch and off it

Failure on the pitch can lead to poor performance off it and vice versa I suppose.

That said I don't see a poor 1 poor season on the pitch causing catastrophic damage off it (financially speaking) and so I would expect FSG might very well stick with BR and the 'long-term' vision. Two poor seasons, however, well that might be a different thing?

Personally, I'd stick it out with him as painful as it may be right now, you gotta go through good and bad to better yourself and hopefully BR will learn and develop for his experiences.

"I think the message from me is clear: I don't think there would be anyone better to do the job here," he told several national newspapers. "Seven months ago we nearly won the title unexpectedly, I had time to work with players and we took them beyond where the club has been in a long time.

"This has been a difficult start with new players, less coaching time, young players; we are virtually starting again. I don't think there is anybody better equipped to deal with that having been here for the last two and a half years and experienced what this club is about and seeing what we get from the players whenever we are at our best.

"Criticism comes with the territory when you don't win games. Football is very short term. The same people who are criticising me now were maybe saying I couldn't do anything wrong six or seven months ago. That is the way football works. You have to accept that as a manager and fight even harder to bring success. This period has ensured I will do that for sure."

Some of those excuses are irritating. Sounds like hes clawing to keep his place.
