I didn't mean it to sound so dramatic. We aren't really on the same level as those clubs, but that's where we want to be and that win ratio against the top 4 has to improve. In saying that we do let ourselves down against the lesser sides.

Unlike you to be over dramatic.

I guess the worst thing is if we had beaten either United or Arsenal twice instead of them beating us, we'd be ahead of them.

Aston Villa (0-1,H), Everton (1-1, H), Hull (0-0, H), West Ham (3-1, A), Sunderland (0-0,H), Leicester (0-0, H) were missed opportunities to get victories, and these were before the 3-4-2-1 formation change.
You point at them, but virtually every team in the league have had some shocking results.

100% agree. Beating the teams you expect to be below you in the table is key.

Games against the top four only make up 8 games from a season of 38. The top four will always nip points from one another so it is who does best from the other 30 games that usually does well.

Look at last season. Chelsea beat us home and away and they did the same to City, but they did not do as well against the so called smaller clubs and ended up behind both us and City.

So we can't beat teams above us, nor teams below us?

Yep every one of the top four to top six clubs will have some awful cock ups against the supposedly weaker teams, but the ones that have less of those cock ups tend to be the top dogs at the end of the season

Read any of ChrisDR1968's last 50 posts, it will definitely be mentioned in any of them.

No, the ones at the top get the most points from all 38 games, not just a set amount of games against weaker opposition. There have been teams who won the league with a decent record against big & small clubs, one who've beaten their rivals but had a lesser record against weaker opposition and teams who've been lacking against stronger teams but thrashed the rest.

This season Liverpool have been lacking against all kinds of opposition. We are fifth because we are not good enough, not because we can't beat x y or z.

We really need to improve our win ration against Chelsea, City, Arsenal and Utd. IMO, it will happen over the next couple of seasons (hate to say this, but this team, under Rodgers, reminds me of Utd starting off under Mr Ferguson).
                      Another MASSIVE game

I've just been back over them. You're wrong Mudds, which is a real disappointment.

But I'm learning a lot about modern construction techniques, so it's not all bad.

I have some serious misgivings about Rodgers but he shouldn't be sacked in the summer. There's no outstanding candidate to replace him and the club's overall philosophy doesn't look like it's changing so Rodgers remains a very good fit for us.

Hardly a huge return from 12 years in management and I don't believe any of that would've been a factor in keeping him in the Arsenal job for 9 barren seasons.
