Liverpool in crisis: Brendan Rodgers faces dressing room revolt after accusing stars of not playing for him
22:30, 5 April 2015 By Adrian Kajumba
The Reds were humiliated at Arsenal in Saturday's do-or-die top four encounter and Rodgers now faces the greatest test of his Anfield career
Brendan Rodgers is facing a major dressing room crisis at Liverpool.
The Anfield boss called a meeting after training at Melwood yesterday and accused several players of not playing for him.
Some senior players spoke up angrily against Rodgers as they were left incensed at the accusation.
Some have been left disaffected in recent weeks and now Rodgers is facing the biggest test of his reign at Anfield.
He has already conceded Liverpool’s hopes of reaching the top four and was left furious after the defeat at Arsenal on Saturday.
The players had a warm down yesterday ahead of the FA Cup quarter final replay at Blackburn on Wednesday.
They must go to Ewood Park with a depleted squad as Martin Skrtel, Steven Gerrard and Emre Can are suspended and Daniel Sturridge is struggling for fitness.
But now the dressing room has been left annoyed by Rodgers amid a growing crisis at Anfield.
Club captain Gerrard is leaving the club at the end of the season while Liverpool are facing contract stand-offs with England stars Raheem Sterling and Jordan Henderson.
Rodgers also said £16million Italy striker Mario Balotelli claimed he took it upon himself to decide he was not fit to play at Arsenal.
When asked if the top four was out of reach, Rodgers said: “I think so. I’m a realist as well. I wouldn’t expect the others to slip up.
“Liverpool is a great club. But, of course, players want to play at the top level of the game and if you’re not in the Champions League it makes it difficult for you.”
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’
I would be interested to know who the Mirror/their sources are regarding as senior players who spoke up against him
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
Hmm. If (!!!) there is any truth to that then a fresh start might actually be for the best. Like Rafa, Brendan pushes the 'no I in team' thing heavily and if there is disunity in the group, and without Gerrard to help keep on top of it, then I wonder if Brendan has enough authority to recover it.

I like Brendan and want him to stay. But perhaps his verbal diarrhoea has bitten him in the arse. Maybe the constant talking about players to one and all, combined with **** results has bought things to a head. Or its newspaper bull**** of course.
Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde
It probably is sensationalist bollocks, but it wouldn't be a huge surprise if after last season, two crap transfer windows, a pitiful display in Europe (including resting players away to Madrid) and the realisation that we're not getting back into the CL, some players were a bit ****ed off with things and let it be known.
