Rodgers has a strict method to how he likes his teams to play, yet again for another LFC manager the big test is getting Gerrard to play a disciplined role within the team set up.

    That's Rodgers's biggest problem imo
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

Rodger's biggest problem is how to **** him off out of the team knowing that he's not that disciplined and a fan favourite.

Rogers talks a good game and has came across very well

What i'm concerned about is that alot of our players are at the Euros, this obviously means Rogers won't get the whole squad together for at least another month and a half ish. He obviously wants to see what he has to work with, i wonder will he do some transfer business whilst the Euros is on or will wait & look at what he has got, then decide who goes and who comes in?

The latter being the most likely option IMO, for me the only problem with that is little time to develop the current squad before season starts, nevermind bedding new players into the team. He seems to want to implement his philosophy into the team which is fantastic, i just wish he had more time to prepare with our full squad before season opens.

Not defending Roy Hodgson at all but he suffered the same problem with the World Cup in 2010 when he took over, regardless of who he was that has to put a spanner in the works for any new manager. For me it just Rogers task that bit more difficult.

I think next season will be a lot like 2004-5 - a noticeable improvement in playing style / pressing / shape instantly but results will be patchy

Can't wait to see what players he goes for

I think you're right, expectation has to be lowered. Very excited to see who he targets, even if we don't get these players i'm still curious to see, who he feels should be at the club.

Interesting times, bit wary but bit excited.

Mightily impressed with him and what he has said yesterday. All my fears about his appointment have been quelled and I am genuinely looking forward to seeing him implement his vision at the club. I have the gut feeling that he will really be a success here and bring us many good times.

One thing is for sure, BR has shut up the irrational complainers instantly. I think reasoned/ realistic concerns like danperkins & win are completely fine, but if you read through the old thread about the managerial process, you'd think the Titanic was sinking. BR's demeanor and approach has completely reversed that and I think all fans are now happy (or at least cautiously optimistic) to have him on board.

Which leads me to believe that, once again, it is not the facts but uncertainty itself that drives people crazy. Now that we have a manager, we have someone specific to focus on, to evaluate and so far BR is ticking all the boxes. I like him, he seems very focused and seems to have a real plan.

I also like that he comes from my generation, one that can use technology well, and seems apart from the ancient fraternity of old school managers. His curiosity about Spain and Italy, about football in all its forms, tells me we have a real thinking person. I am not as familiar with his in game adjustments, so I don't know how he will handle that aspect-- one of the most frustrating things for me is watching a match and seeing a glaring problem that goes unaddressed-- but I have a lot of confidence in him.

Now it's time to panic about transfers until that sorts itself out followed by panicking about our pre-season performances, until the league gets here...

Rafa had the same problem in 2004 as well....Sods law and just hope its not an omen.....2004 we lost Owen which set us back and 2010 we lost Mascher which again set us back (as well as Woy setting us back) and I hope we dont lose anyone big this time around otherwise I think it could be a real hammer blow, moreso than 2004/2010.....

If Rodgers doesn't change things much, I think we can do very well and fight for the CL spot. There's nothing much wrong in the way we've played under Kenny. He should focus us scoring more first, then tweak our playing style a wee bit. Not a lot to do really.

Rafa had to change a lot. Rodgers doesn't need to. There's a big difference.

I'm quite sure that he's 99% sure of what he has to work with, he will have analysed us as manager of Swansea, so will already recognise where the improvements are to be made - I also think that he would already have identified who he wants and who he wants to let go, I'd like to think that he'd be prepared to look at everyone we already have including Cole and Aquilani..

Imo how well we will do next year it will depend very much if our existing players are really suitable and if they will buy into Brendan's philosophy and style of play immediately as well on the new signings that he'll go after.

He needs to buy some good quality players or players that have potential to be starters fairly soon.

If that doesn't happen I am afraid Europa Legue next year may still be the best we can expect.

Yeah I suppose so...Im looking at the omen side of it not the rational....Im a superstitious bugger mate...

Im like others on here where i was unsure on bucky but after seeing his PC yesterday and the interview he gave for LFC.TV I am hugely impressed with him and like the fact he has balls the size of boulders.....Came across really well and he seems to have an aura about him like Kenny and Rafa....Something you cant quite put your finger on but its SOMETHING....

They should be suitable though, why wouldn't they not be. It's the same playing style with maybe more emphasis on controlling the tempo of the game (as opposed to a fast tempo for sustained periods of time). I think it's a slight evolution we're looking towards to, not a radical one. We used to press high up the pitch and control the tempo of games with Rafa as well.
