Which is why I'll have forgotten all about your post within about five minutes.

You need some reading comprehension.Originally posted by James P View PostRumour has it that even the red-nosed hairdryer took a few years to settle in. I'm only saying "let's reserve judgment". I'm not saying "let's sack him".

TBF, if anyone else can remember, Christian Gross talked a great game when he joined Spurs.
BR is different though and given patience and time to implement his philosophies I think we will be OK. I just pray that he is given the financial backing to get the top quality players that his vision deserves."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley

And you need a reality check. He's had three league games in charge, and you're already making negative comments. This season is clearly a season of transition, and quite possibly the season or two after that as well. If you're happy to give him time, why don't you also give the 'Talk is cheap' style jibes a rest?Originally posted by JohnDoe View PostYou need some reading comprehension.

TBF have you ever known a manager come in and say that he's going to be **** and the team will probably suffer a decline under his management? I think we exepct every manager to be incredibly positive. It's just interesting at this stage to hear just how erudite BR is, and how detailed he is in his approach, rather than just coming out with general Bodge / David Pleat / Harry Redknapp style cliches.Originally posted by Tee View PostTBF, if anyone else can remember, Christian Gross talked a great game when he joined Spurs.

That was before he pulled out his one day travel card to show the press he had travelled in via the tube.Originally posted by Tee View PostTBF, if anyone else can remember, Christian Gross talked a great game when he joined Spurs.

It's not a jibe. It's the truth. Results are all that matters, and when I'm talking about results, they aren't these specific targets that must be reached or else, I'm talking about a sense of progression. If I get that this season, I'll be happy. If I don't, I won't. It's fair to say that this is true for everyone.Originally posted by James P View PostAnd you need a reality check. I just feel this celebration over Rodgers' impressive speeches and comparisons to Shankly are just a bit silly.

I think the key is to remain open minded. Obviously the league campaign is of to a shocker and in all reality could get worse before it gets better.
As long as people can face that then we have a chance of success. What we can do without is people getting on the teams back as that is when the wheels come off.
At present these little sound bites are what we'll have to cling too, because at present we have no results to show us that we will come good. I'm just thankful we had a good performance against the champions as that at least shows we are capable.
My final say on the matter is this. Had Pep Guardiola taken over Stoke I highly doubt he'd suddenly have them playing tika taka football with no issues. Same goes if Tony Pulis took over Swansea - they'd struggle playing to his percentage game.
It comes down to this - certain styles need certain personnel. Now a manager less confident in his ability to teach would not rush the team into a new style of play so quickly.
But this is Brendan Rodgers, and in all fairness to him, he's a very arrogant man. Not a bad thing, as it marks him out as one who will succeed at the top level.
But it does mean it will be a very bumpy road to start of with. It also means we will get to where we want to be quicker than introducing things slowly - but it will cost us early on this season and Rodgers knows this. Indeed he has mentioned and alluded to this on numerous occasions.
I really think that come Xmas we'll be in much better shape for it - my only hope is we keep in touch with those fighting for Europe so we can push on and challenge later on in the year.Forwards.......

tbf he's also been left short on options up front and we're without Lucas for a number of months yet again.Originally posted by JohnDoe View PostIt's not a jibe. It's the truth. It's going to be a tough few months but it was encouraging to see our performance against City and the more we play in his style of football the better I believe we'll become
