I think the difference with Kenny was that he wasted a huge amount of money on the wrong players and ultimately paid the price for that.

For that outlay, regardless of net spend or how much that was brought in from sales, FSG expected more - **** we expected more as fans. A trust was placed in Kenny and Comolli to get the signings in, to improve the team with them and to push us up the league.

He bought mid table mediocrity, and thats his legacy.

Guess some of you aren't old enough to remember a certain Mr. standing on the touchline shaking his head, being booed, with a lot of frustrated fans calling for his head.

I really think Brendan will turn out to be great for this club, IF he is given support from us and the owners. I don't know this, but I have hope. Changing managers every year certainly isn't going to help.

He needs support, the players need support, and being a proud Liverpool supporter I for one is going to give them that.

Haha have to say this made me piss myself. Just his mannerisms. I'm a fan of Brendan and will back him to the end but his mannerisms are so David Brent at times.

Agree with Shaggy. FSG have got me ****ting bricks. They need to show in January that they back their man and back him big.

We have been wank since Alonso left. Rafa wasn't perfect, he messed things up too. Since Rafa left we've gone downhill massively.

This is true but it's the lack of investment over a sustained period and then shockingly poor investment choices in a short period (when we do eventually spend) that's caused our current prediciment

We have some decent players thought don't we? It's not like we have crap players. We are better than 12th aren't we?

We definitely are, I'm not sure that everything is money related. For me, we have around 6 very good players, that we should be able to build a squad around. I know what Rodgers is doing and there is some signs of progress, but the results aren't coming. Obviously his signings (looking at Allen and Borini mainly) occurred to help the team play his kind of football, and because they had previously worked with him. I'm not having a dig at either player because I think that they both should be good Liverpool footballers, just that they weren't cheap cheaper alternatives were definitely available.

However I'm not convinced, purely because of the shape of the squad and way that we've been going the last few seasons that the signings made were the absolute best allocation of funds. If you look at some of the transfers made over Europe this season there were definitely some bargains, and perhaps improving the quality of the broader squad, before aiming for key individuals to implement his tactics could have been beneficial. The lack of squad depth is clear for everyone to see and as the season has worn on, we are not yet playing true to "Rodgers style".

My main fear about splashing money around in January (which I don't believe will happen) is that we're not playing CL football, we don't look like we have a shot at doing so in the next few season and there have been some pretty uninspiring games over the previous years. It's not like we have a whole lot of CL players that would expensive willing to join. It'll be either up and coming players from smaller foreign leagues, misfits like some of the English strikers being linked or big fish in small pond types. All of which can be risky. Anyhow, I'm not really expecting too much in Jan, maybe a bargain backup striker or/and attacking midfielder. I hate to say it, but Kenny had what appears to be the one shot for big investment and he flogged it on the likes of Downing, Adam, Carroll and Henderson.

I'll tell you something for nothing, the second half of the season isn't going to be any better than the first. The decent players we have are going to be knackered and it's a gamble whether any new players we buy in January can bed in immediately.

I think we'll be lucky to finish top 8 and then the question is whether the good players believe in Rodgers and his project or will they be off next summer to somewhere that can compete and how are we going to be able to attract really good players to join us even if we have the money with a finish of 7th or 8th, again!

We are in serious danger of getting stuck in the mid table cycle like Villa and Everton and not being able to get out of it.

Yeah but Rafa wanted to replace Alonso with Barry, Barry is a class player, that would have worked

Otherwise why isnt one of our biggest goal threats playing closer to suarez. why does prefer henderson and shelvey to gerrard.

His cycle has finished, I thought you would have worked that one our yourself

Gerrard is not the player he used to be imo. You can't expect the same from him.
