Also he is a player who entire systems have been built around in the past, he no longer is that guy, Suarez is.

I am hoping for an Indian summer in his career, I think we have another 2 seasons in him after this one, hes in good nick just does not seem to be as explosive going forward, but hey he also has been asked to do a specfic job and its not behind the striker or bursting into the box .... so far anways ...

Rodgers is trying to preserve him as well. It's ludicrous to suggest he could be the same player and should be marauding here and there. His game is changing and he is adapting.

Much like Rafa changed his game before, Rodgers is doing the same thing.

I still think I'd prefer to seem him as part of the front three now. Sterling/Suarez/Gerrard. Or try him is the central striker

I think thats the plan, once we have the personal fit or in the squad, he's on record as saying he sees Gerrard playing the RW role

Amen shame the world is full of such dumb ..... he will have to ride quite the storm before he gets there, a lot of it coming from fans of his team

Don't think he'll play the rw role as he doesn't have the legs for it. If you at our wing players, they are asked to do a lot of covering work up and down that flank.

I see Gerrard as either behind the striker or as one of the midfield 3. Think he's been nurtured into the latter from what I've seen. We need another specialist DM imo, to complement what we already have.

Gerrard and Allen will be better for it. Oh and Lucas is soon back.

Why the need for a radical change of playing style though? I didn't feel we needed to play tiki taka, just get results, that's the best platform to build on. When Houllier and Rafa took over, they started from the back and built a solid team that was difficult to beat.

Rodgers is starting with the passing, even though our players have been playing compact, direct football for years (most of them). I feel he is going too fast about this, if he really wanted a passing team, he should have implemented that incrementally, IMO. As a result we are wide open, slow on the attack, disorganized and shot of confidence.

I'd like us to break faster and play more direct and play to the strenghts of our players. And buy a back up DM and another striker FFS.

Rodgers knows this all to well, and has taken steps.

I don't think it's as radical a passing style as what we were used to, that is why we've kind of got to grips with it fairly quickly. The only major difference is the patience. Last night epitomised that. When we went 2 down, we didn't panic and kept on probing.

Issues we have is with the defensive side of things because we're committing more men forward. But it was never going to be a 100% improvement in his first season. People have been expecting too much far too soon, that's the problem.

Expecting a better league performance than this is not over the top IMO. I will not apologise for that. We have good players, but they are being restricted to play short passes from the back and the ones who can't adapt, i.e. Carroll, are sent packing.

Reina, Johnson, Agger, Skrtel, Allen, Sahin, Gerrard, Suarez are good players, they would improve every team in division apart from City, United and Chelsea. They are just not being allowed to play to their strenghts. Almost all of them are suited to playing a more direct game, pretty sure Dortmund played more direct when Sahin was with them.

Thee most difficult time in my living memory to take the reins and Liverpool and for me anyways he is doing a sterling job managing expectation, whilst extracting some form of progress on the pitch with the eye on a long term transition to something that will put us back were we belong

I like Rodgers. I am more optimistic with him in charge than I was with Kenny. He's been pretty screwed over in terms of the players sold before his arrival, the quality of some of the players inherited and insufficient financial backing where the biggest agenda in the summer seems to have been reducing the wage bill. And the Carroll thing, well that was a major **** up.

We have less points than we deserve.

If the business we do in January improves us, then I will continue to be positive and we'll see what the summer brings. But he needs money. Proper money.
