I'm realistic, Champions League was a long shot, but we should be better than 11th mate. Significantly better. I think your expectations have been Hodgsoned!
And he is not the only one. I accept there are going to be difficult times when the club is in such clear transition, however with the squad of players we have we should be doing far better.

BR has played a blinder and gets sympathy when we fail, quite understandably some of the time, but he should take more responsibility.

I give him a 7/10 purely because he has had the trust and balls to play the youngsters. And I like the way we are trying to play proper football. He is the right man for the job but needs to understand whilst we ar ein transition the results have been way below what we expect. Pressure can get the best out of some people, and he could do with some IMO.

i think rodgers will bring us back to the top four if he can stay in the job long enough. we may not have enough points on the board but it's been far more entertaining watching us drop points this season than it has since rafa left. i don't include kenny's caretaker spell in that because we didn't drop many points.

I can, he's the teacher's pet. Him and Lucas together

Results aren't important at the moment, though I would like to see us make it into the Europa League next year. Well, so long as we don't sink into a relegation fight.

Overall, out of 10, I'd give him a 6/7 maybe because he's doing well considering the **** awful mess we're in right now. The problem is after this season - every manager gets one free season to stamp their mark on the team and all that and he's said this season is also about clearing the wagebill (again) etc... so the real work comes in the summer and that goes double for FSG as they really have to show how serious they are about making us successful again.

FSG can save this season in January. Ball is firmly in their court.

                Definitely.

I think we collectively as Liverpool fans should be firmly looking at FSG and Ayre more than Rodgers to make sure that the Dempsey thing was simply a one off. Can't be getting back into the position whereby the manager says which player he wants and we're either not willing to pay £5M for a player or have the negotiating tactics of a salad sandwich and can't close the deal.

Quite an impressive spurt of posts since AF's gentle nudge this morning.
                  Oh I don't know.

he's always said it's likely to be a few years before we can challenge again and i think that's right. he's just not going to be able to completely mould this team in a year. there's too much work to be done, and that kind of expenditure would blow a giant hole in our sheet for ffp.

If he asks for a pay rise he can do one.

True but with the money that we've cleared already and the (hopeful) departure of both Cole and Downing, we should be able to take the next step to getting back.

As I see it, at the moment, we're barely a Europa League team. We should be higher than that but we're just not. The next step is getting us back to 5th/6th comfortably and then being one or two signings away from top four.

I think his approach has been quite granular.

i reckon we knew what sort of wages dempsey wanted and the business people didn't want us posting another aging flop that we wouldn't be able to get rid of. i wasn't against signing him, and not doing so has been a very unpopular decision. however by all accounts we were willing to pay that and more for a younger player (and might have done if our scouts had been at the club), i can also see the value in sticking to the values they believe in, and if that means no more joe coles, then that's progress.
