Wouldn't be surprised if we see quite a bit of this. It gets Sterling on the pitch whilst freeing up an attacking midfield position for Markovic, Coutinho, Lallana.

The front 3 looked very good, mobile, quick and a real threat and that's what we need to see at arsenal.

Defensively we have to accept we aren't good enough and we wont ever be. But at least its a step in the right direction after the last few months.

For everything he has gotten wrong recently, he did very well last night and deserves credit.

Now, Id start with the same team again on Sunday with Sakho in Lovrens place.

my thoughts exactly. Good to have another option when Sturridge finally returns.

              Not for me.

In reality Bournemouth opened us up quite a few times......in the first 5 minutes some guy toe-poked it wide from 5 yards, Gosling hit the post.....and some other dude whacked it over the crossbar from 5 yards as well.......

Watching the game, i had the feeling that we could have ramped it up had we really needed to.....but our defense is a car crash.....no protection from the wings no matter who plays there and no protection from midfield either if Gerrard is playing deep....

We were much improved but I don't see it as a corner turned just yet. We still look appalling at the back, thanks to:
                • A central midfielder asked to play right wing back
                • An attacking midfielder asked to play left wing back
                • Skrtel having one of his usual games
                • Lovren - less said the better, I can't remember him doing anything decent let alone good.
                • Toure - was 'ok', not as good as we've seen him recently
                • Sakho - very rusty but was precise in his passing in made (to my mind) one excellent tackle in the box.
                • Brad Jones - rubbish effort at making a save for their goal.
                • Lucas/Gerrard tandem - which has never, ever looked good.

However, going forward we looked much better for having the blistering pace of Sterling through the middle. I don't think Lallana and Coutinho are on the same wavelength as yet but both were dangerous on the ball - Lallana looks more dynamic while Coutinho is better at holding on it and bringing others into play. Markovic, while piss poor defensively (not his fault), was a willing runner going forward - made intelligent runs, offered himself and I thought his goal was very well taken.

Long term I don't think we'll get very far with this formation and playing without recognised fullbacks but at least we're more creative.

January: Get Sturridge on the pitch, sign a very good Keeper, play Sakho and we might start getting somewhere.

Think signing a strong keeper would help a great deal. Someone who can really make the defense act as a unit and move together.

Good to watch, quick on the break, some lovely passing and **** at defending. But that's at least an improvement on what we've seen for most this season.

I really hope they sort out the role of the transfer committee when they have their meeting about how it works in the near future.

Looks like he's reluctant to play Can and to a degree (until recently) Markovic because they were committee signings.

Maybe Rodgers should give the committee a list of 6 players in each of the positions he feels need strengthening (with each position in order of priority - eg striker first).

Then the committee decides which ones on his list to go after and hopefully eventually sign up.

At least with that set-up Rodgers will be getting players he wants and shouldn't be as reluctant to play them.

At the moment there seems to be too many cooks spoiling the broth

Can and Markovic have not, not been played because they are 'committee signings'.
