Aye. Would have been okay if he'd just f*cked off the summer before when our boss kept telling all and sundry that he was for sale, due to us wanting Gareth 'f'in Barry.

No one comes out of the Xabi deal very well. To put it all on him is slightly misleading

What a b*st*rd! He wanted money! And I bet he wanted his final month's salary paid in full!

On the other paw, I bet the club didn't want to pay him more than they were contractually obliged to!

What a bunch of barbd, sticking to contractual agreements and generally playing hardball!

Although on both rear paws, we have absolutely no way of knowing exactly why events played out as they did. We can guess though about what happened and why and we must guess and we will guess and what we guess will alway be true.
      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Where would he play for LFC? Gerrard does his role now. I know he was hardly box to box before, but his legs are going now. I reckon this league could find him out.

What LFC lack is physical monster in the centre of the park, not a pass master. I can't say I wouldn't be excited by his return, I just can't see it happening.
          Forwards.......

I wouldn't mind him back (to replace Joe Allen) however if we're in the market for a central midfielder then imo there are better (probably cheaper) options out there.

We're crying out for a Yaya Toure or Mascharano type midfielder and thats what we should be targeting vs an ageing Alonso.
            We come not to play.

His status would be finished for me as well if he went to Chelsea, but I still have faith in him and think he would come back if the terms could be agreed.

The sentimental part of me wants to see Alonso back, but in all honesty of the Xabi-Mascherano axis we had a few years back it's the Mascherano type player we are missing at the moment IMO.

I'll be gutted though if Xabi plays for another PL club
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Of course I'm going to be here next season," Alonso was quoted as saying by Marca following Madrid's eventful win over Malaga last night.

It's important to maintain good feelings, with an important match coming up next week.

We prepared for this match (against Malaga) with the same seriousness as always and with the desire to do well.

We're mentally prepared for the cup final, it will be a tough match. It's a clear objective, one we can achieve this year and nothing else can distract us. We all have to pull in the same direction.

                      – REAL MADRID MIDFIELDER XABI ALONSO

TBF Xabi isn't the kind of player who would say he's going to leave a club while the season is still ongoing, too much class and professionalism. Lets's just wait and see what happens in the summer.
