My only concern is that we are close to the WC and he may want to be in the CL this season.

I think playing time is more important than CL football because as you mention we are close the WC.

I also think what is best for his family is very important. He already won everything.

I think it depends on the lenght of the contract we offer him if we offer him one.

      Not the premier league though!
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

i agree but i dont think it would be that much to be honest. More like half that....and if it was that much, then i can see Madrid actually saying "fock it, you stay for another year and then leave on a free"

I read that David Villa will be signing for Atletico Madrid for something like £4.4m (€5m) - we should have been all over that (maybe we were and he wanted to stay in spain) - but Villa and Alonso would have been unreal signings to help mentor the likes of Sturridge, Allen, Henderson, Luis Alberto etc.....

I'm sure he can live with that.

LFC fans in wanting yet another ex player back shocker

He's a world class player who has won nearly everything possible to win in the game. We'd be mad not to want him, ex player or not IMO. In fact the only reason why it's even a discussion worthy prospect is because he's an ex player and might 'lower himself' to joining us because of it.

Exactly why the **** would he want to come back to LFC?

Maybe because it would be less of an upheaval for him and his family to return to a club and city they are familiar with, and with people they know. And I assume he has an affinity with the club he spent years at and won trophies with. He knows the fans love him. All sorts of reasons really.

He might not want to, but the idea that he might isn't that far fetched.

I dunno ken i just think at his age it would be a massive step down & a complete lack of ambition on his part.

Simply put.. he's too good for us & i think nostalgia is over played in football these days. Money & Trophies seem to matter more

Yeah I miss his ball winning ability more than anything, the amount of times he stole the ball off our opponents was amazing, helped set up our attacks. Midfielder destroyer coming back can only be great news! Feck off lucas.

Sorry Tee but by the same token Torres could be coming too as Stevie would love to have him back

I cannot see Xabi coming back not as a player anyways.

Even though we fans haven't moved on, he and the club did.

No doubt that he can still play at top level and signing him would bring a "Feel Good" factor like when Rafa signed Fowler but it seems very, very unlikely.

Perhaps his ambition could be measured in his desire to see a club he adores (us) realise their own ambitions by helping them improve and challenge for trophies?

At 31 it could be argued that he's past his best payday opportunity and I prefer to believe Xabi (if he does move) will move for footballing reasons........ Which might just mean LfC remain a viable option for him.

Get what your saying but still not ready to accept that LfC is step down for any player but then I'm a nostalgic old bugger
