I hope Gerrard stays, accepts his role is a reduced one and remains a one man club.

I'd prefer all that except that he remained a one club man. The other way round is sort of hurting us.

We probably shouldn't forget that he's the club's longest serving captain (by some margin).

i just cant contemplate seeing him play for another club..in some ways, i cant help but think it would tarnish his legacy if he went off to some other club..

A little bit of me will die if that happens.

The fact that he has got three young daughters who will be ( or soon will be, regarding his youngest) settled in school, will play a part in his decision.

if he wanted to come back and coach, maybe manage one day, then the more experience he can get elsewhere would be of benefit. maybe he should take a couple of years to backpack his way around europe and stop off at ajax, seville, barca, etc.

According to the Daily Star today (yes I know, I know ) he's considering retiring as he doesn't like the size of pay cut he's been offered by Liverpool to carry on with us beyond this season and is concerned about being able to keep his high standard of play at a level he considers good enough.

I think it would be best for him to move on now, get a season out and experience a new country and culture.

I can't see what the benefit is of him staying this season now, its all damage limitation and things are going to get uglier IMO. It won't be a pleasant season, and for that reason I think he should move somewhere where there's far less expectancy and pressure, somewhere he can actually enjoy the end of his career.

In my eyes it wouldnt tarnish at all as long as it was abroad I think it would be great for him.

A little bit of you would die? Really? It's a man playing for afootball team, not your kids leaving home or finding out your wife's been knocking someone else off ffs!

Still the man. Best player at the club still. Use him correctly and he will still offer loads

He was good tonight. He always seems to respond to his critics, hopefully he can kick on now and prove he has a couple more years left.

He was OK tonight, but clinical finish aside he didn't really offer much in terms of incisive attacking play. We look better with Coutinho in that position and Gerrrard on the bench.
