But he looked far more comfortable and effective than sitting back where he's been made to play. I hated him playing further back, it seemed to blunt him.

Thought he was better second half, after a very poor first half display. In saying that much prefer him out of the DM position. Didn't agree with the predictable BT Sport MOM, not a chance IMO but was a great finish by Stevie & about ****ing time Rodgers realised that Stevie shouldn't play at DM...can't believe it took him so long to realise it.Comment

I agree, to a degree. I can't be arsed with all the over the top media triumphalism about Gerrard - it has to be taken in context. He was affecting play more, scored and started moves off and a defensive midfielder gave him (and the team) a platform to go forward.
He was instrumental, but the overall team performance wasn't great. The results have to start from somewhere though.Comment

I thought he was average at best. The goal papers the cracks. Very unremarkable otherwise. The goal was also gifted to us. Otherwise I'm not really sure.
Regarding him leaving, if he goes abroad it's fine. Look at Raul joining Schalke, smoething like that is ideal.Comment

The guy is a legend no doubts... best player ever to play for the club but the BT Sports love from Owen,Macca, Heskey & Gary Mac..all former team mates of his was & is cringeworthy.
