But he looked far more comfortable and effective than sitting back where he's been made to play. I hated him playing further back, it seemed to blunt him.

Thought he was better second half, after a very poor first half display. In saying that much prefer him out of the DM position. Didn't agree with the predictable BT Sport MOM, not a chance IMO but was a great finish by Stevie & about ****ing time Rodgers realised that Stevie shouldn't play at DM...can't believe it took him so long to realise it.

He was better, but we can do still do better than that level of performance.Originally posted by Daniel 7 View PostBut he looked far more comfortable and effective than sitting back where he's been made to play. I hated him playing further back, it seemed to blunt him.

I agree, to a degree. I can't be arsed with all the over the top media triumphalism about Gerrard - it has to be taken in context. He was affecting play more, scored and started moves off and a defensive midfielder gave him (and the team) a platform to go forward.
He was instrumental, but the overall team performance wasn't great. The results have to start from somewhere though.

The guy is a legend no doubts... best player ever to play for the club but the BT Sports love from Owen,Macca, Heskey & Gary Mac..all former team mates of his was & is cringeworthy. Non existent first half. Was a good finish and was ok in the second half when they had 10 men and were stretched...but he wasn't great at all.Originally posted by Zapater View PostI thought he was average at best. The goal papers the cracks. Very unremarkable otherwise. The goal was also gifted to us. Otherwise I'm not really sure.
Regarding him leaving, if he goes abroad it's fine. Look at Raul joining Schalke, smoething like that is ideal.

don't be silly man he's the greatest player to ever play for the club & my favourite LFC player of all time... but doesn't blind me from what is happening & how he has performed.
Not going to argue about it, he scored & hopefully he can build on this, enough said Bob
