So sad Gerrard will not be here next season he has been the best player i have seen play for us im my time so far. I have seen many come & go, McManaman, Alonso, Torres, Carra, Suarez but none will ever mean to me what Steven Gerrard does! Probably started to really watch football from about 1995 onwards so his whole career has been in my lifetime
I still believe he would have something to offer us as an impact sub for another season or two, something like how lampard is doing for City. Keep him in the forward positions. But the question is would he be happy with that role? I know for sure that although his rampaging style is not with him any more, his influence will be greatly missed in all aspects of the squad. It would have been perfect to see him end his career at Liverpool Football Club but you cannot begrudge him a couple of stress free playing years in the states. Hope he comes back on a loan to us while they have their breaks!

Carragher has pretty much intimated the club's offer be it financial, contract length or even role (lack of coaching offer) was probably a factor
