I would love to see him play on here but part of me wants him to try something new, a foreign league/culture for his sake so when he looks back on his career he can have something else aside from Liverpool. Certainly would not begrudge him a move abroad.

Seeing how Xabi is doing, Gerrard would still tear up the German league.

Gives the ball away far too often to play for Bayern though.

Dealing with a declining Gerrard is going to be one of Rodgers' biggest tests in the next year or so. Letting him leave might be the simplest (not the best) way of doing that, but it does seem unnecessarily harsh.

Hopefully he's just gone public in the hope of forcing our hand into offering him a new deal.

I think it also gives added motivation to those who might want to take his place. It could be a very sensible way to play things. We don't know how much Gerrard might decline this season or what his attitude to someone playing ahead of him might be.

Urgh, the thought of Stevie playing for another club.

Saying that, I think he'd absolutely tear up the Italian league if he was to go there.

we wont get any cash for him anyway......

best scenario is that he is phased out in the same way that Giggs and Scholes were for Man United..... maybe take some coaching responsibilities or something....i'm not sure that is Gerrard though....i'm not sure he could handle being rotated.......it might start off okay but after a while there would be a game against a Chelsea or United where he was benched and he'd see his arse with the whole thing.....

i personally think that gerrard should be rotated with Joe Allen now already.... and play a specialist defenisve midfielder in there as well.

it will be a big test of Rodgers though. There was a time when Rafa was our manager where you suspect that he would have gladly taken the £40m fee and reinvest in the team.....

The general consensus is that LFC and Gerrard could both benefit from a parting ways?

6 months ago I would not even have entertained this idea, but a mutual parting may genuinely be better for both parties. My only stipulation would be that he does not go to another PL club. And FSG would of course have to buy Marco Reus in January just to ease the pain (and give Gerrard 6 months with Reus by which time the magic will have rubbed off).

Gerrard could have benefited from it a few years ago.

As it stands now it's too late for him, and I hope we can keep a place for him.

I don't view playing in the USA as playing for another club so I'd be fine with that. It would be like a Break before he comes back in some sort of capacity. Think of it as a holiday.
