I want to ensure that Steven is very much part of this second curve we’re on in terms of group development.”

Thats just another way of saying were clueless and we don't know what's going wrong again for the second time in 3 seasons.

I think if he goes it will be somewhere like the MLS for a last big pay packet in a league where he could roll back the clock by 5 years. The big European clubs probably won't want him and so why, if your Steven Gerrard, would you settle for second best, it would be like he was carrying on for the sake of it. At least in America he could have a bit of fun and earn a packet doing it.

Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

Stevie still has much to offer LFC but sparingly in an offensive position especially late in the game. He can thread a pass, shoot or link up the attacking play.

By using him in defensive midfield, Brendan is wasting him and killing his confidence.

But defensively, he was problem in that position last season too - which some people did argue here at the time as well. It's just that the goals scores covered that up so it got less attention in the same way the fact we're not scoring goals is probaably giving it more attention this season.

There's also a problem with his short distribution being too slow and one-dimensional. Watch how often a defender gives it to him and he knocks it five yards straight back if there's any pressure at all. Which just slows us down and means the defender is probably under more pressure too. Compare that to Lucas who knows where players are and usually looks to turn into space or change the angle. It's the dfference between a player who's played DM for years and is used to finding space there and a player who has almost always played his best football with the ball in front of him only going one way - forward at speed. It's not that one is better. It's that one is better for that job.

As some people have suggested, he should be RM for me. And mainly as a last 30 minutes supersub. Makes the best use of his crossing and means he's still in the right area to make something out of nothing, which has always been what he's best at.
              Excellent post

Our results should be sending you on a downer. You should be getting wound up about brendans constant briefing of the media about how inept our club is at everything and how nothing is ever his fault.

His article tonight places the blame on this seasons troubles right on the club. You think that's ok ?

Hasnt Gerrard just sold his house to Rodgers? Maybe he knocked a mil off the asking price in exchange for a massive 2 year deal.

Rodgers is renting it off him isn't he?

Wouldn't want to piss his landlord off by dropping him

It doesn't - from the article posted in the 'Brendan Rogers' thread:

Agonisingly runners-up to Manchester City last season, Rodgers had a golden opportunity this summer to build on a staggeringly exciting squad.

But with Sanchez electing to join Arsenal and Suarez exiting to Barcelona an opportunity has been missed.

Rodgers believes that is not the fault of anyone at Anfield.

“We were in a great position at the end of last season, with Champions League football and a way of working, but we just have to work harder and smarter to convince these players to come,” he said.

“As I said the club has done everything it could over the course of the summer to get the players who are going to improve us.

“But players look for more than just football terms. They look at where they want to live, they look at all these social factors and that’s something we can’t control. If someone gets offered say more money to come here but they want to go elsewhere, they want to go to London, there’s not much you can do.

“I think the club have shown their hand in terms of they will be prepared to pay the wages of top players, but whether they want to come here is a different matter.

                            “I think it’s where we’re at.

Ok thanks. But I still think he places the blame onto others when there's no need for it like with Mario.
