yes he is mate the great players we've had in the past had good and great players to play with stevie g has had to play with dross and still time and time again he dragged us across the line, without him i'm sure we'd have won fook all for the past 17 years, in my book the best player to ever play for us by a country mile i thank god i've had the privelege to witness him play for us from the start to the end of his career with us and pray to god that we can get somebody in who if only half as good would still be a hell of player

I've just got back from a mates funeral, which puts things into perspective, however, this still chocked me up a little.

There's more to it than the announcement though, its looking back to a period of time that has passed all too quickly, a period of time when we truly did walk with giants. For one evening we were top of the world, and for a little period no team in Europe wanted to face us, and Stevie led us through that, a leader the likes of which will may never see again. Those days have now passed and we know not if they will ever return.

This war will never be forgotten, nor will the heroes who fought in it.

Men are haunted by the vastness of eternity. And so we ask ourselves: will our actions echo across the centuries?

Will strangers hear our names long after we are gone and wonder who we were, how bravely we fought, how fiercely we loved?

If they ever tell my story, let them say... I walked with giants. Men rise and fall like the winter wheat... but these names will never die.

Steven Gerrards name will never be forgotten, it will echo within the walls of Anfield long after we have all moved on, and thats probably this biggest compliment I can make.

I don't know why, but I find it really amusing that, whilst all his team mates are talking about 'Stevie', Sakho calls him 'Mr Gerrard' like he's his headmaster or something.
