FSG are clueless *******s for letting him go and that he is far from finished. People take is as a fact that he will be going to the U.S. mickey mouse league.*

Not all European clubs are owned by moneyballs dickheads. Juve have a very successful record/history of capitalising on the experience of players like Del Piero, Nedved, Pirlo et al. PSG would definitely benefit from an experienced at the European level leader and Mourinho as well as Guardiolla both appreciate the experience and versatility of players like Gerrard. Just because the Portuguese rat said last season that he would not be after Gerrard, that doesn't mean he will do it.*

Gerrard will be playing in Europe.

He is an incredible servant to the club, not likely to be equaled in the future of LFC. But time goes by and his legs are not what they once were. Liverpool are a romantic club, all of us love our history-- it is our foundation, our identity. But time goes by and Gerrard is 34 playing in a very demanding position; he's still good, but he is not 100K+ a week good. Do the club owe him that? Probably. Could he be managed better? I think so, but it's tough-- migrate him to a Giggs-like role, playing sparing minutes and get him on the managerial staff? He can make millions a year playing in another league.
If FSG did not sit down with him and discuss how to wind down his career with LFC, I can understand people being upset-- that shows a lack of respect that is unacceptable. If they did talk and this is the result, it's a two-way street and I understand it."Our legacy begets an excellence that surpasses the particulars of who produces it." -- David Carr

I think from a pure marketing and image point of view he is definitely worth more than 100k per week irrespective of the contribution on the pitch. He is the only iconic player remaining at LFC with absolutely no one coming close to him if you look at the support in the Asian and US fan base.Originally posted by BrooklynRed View PostHe is an incredible servant to the club, not likely to be equaled in the future of LFC. If FSG low balled the contract offer, from a purely business point of view, they got it wrong this time. For the first time in a long long time, we don't have a genuine superstar in our midst.

We are on a fast track at becoming the new Villa. Depressing times ahead, can just feel it.
It's stating the obvious to acknowledge that Gerrard was a truly great player, but it is a sad fact that he's been in decline for a couple of seasons and the rate of his decline is accelerating.
We're now in the position that whenever Gerrard is in the team we seem to play badly and when he's not in the team we seem to play a lot better. He's no longer good enough to start for Liverpool and giving him a new contract on a huge salary would have been madness.
I've seen many great players leave over the last fifty years. It happens. Here's the thing: life goes on.

That's just wishful thinking. Basically he's shot. The legs have gone.Originally posted by rcasemore View PostHow young does he look then
What a player he's been for us, I wonder if making this decision public will help him raise his game for the last half a season with us, its possible this has been weighing on his mind and had an effect on his performances
Hopefully making the decision public will make it easier for Rodgers to play him less. He should play in the FA Cup and Europa League, but he's no longer good enough to start Premier League games.

Point well made. I'm not sure I agree in its entirety, however peoples concerns we are becoming midtable also-rans is a little doom mongering. I do like reading your posts as I don't take them as seriously as others on here seem to, no offence.Originally posted by Redspin View PostThis is a very difficult thread to read because it's an endless stream of bollocks, but you win the prize for the most over-the-top post.

Henderson is criminally underrated on here. Shame on youOriginally posted by Leyton388 View Postwe're all going to be ****ing depressed when our midfield next season is Hendo, Allen and Delph as Rodgers strokes himself raw in the dugouts at the sight of our three little busy bodies hitting sumptuous 5 yard passes.

Its not that far off, a little OTT but really, when you look at this season even with the recent run of form, in the form table over the last 6 we're 8th.Originally posted by Redspin View PostThis is a very difficult thread to read because it's an endless stream of bollocks, but you win the prize for the most over-the-top post.

I don't think we'd have a single player in a league 11 so far this season.SakhoPotatoes
