I have no qualms with what Gerrard said. If he'd brushed it under the carpet there would be a whole host of conspiracy theories. He's stood by his vice captain, played down the situation and tried to move the conversation on to the result and performances. It's the headlines that are being twisted. SSN were trying to say he was pissed at Sturridge for arguing around the penalty spot!

I think both are fair to consider. I don't know why he wouldn't be chosen to take them. But if he isn't he isn't and shouldn't because it's not his decision to make. If he misses the mess is even bigger.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostNah he'd have missed same as Hendo would have
It's mental that Mario, who has taken pressure pens isn't the taker when on the pitch.

thought he did really well when he came on. It's noticeable that he's ingesting the advice that's being thrown at him. He also went straight to Henderson to celebrate with him.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostIt would be if he was part of that team and acted like it. If that's not the dynamic then he's surely off.
Think Gerrard has made it into more of an issue than it was.

Absolutely no need.
Nothing to say we wouldn't have won today with him, just like people said with Allen, Lovren etc.
Strange that anyone would feel the need to make such a unprovable point after such a good result. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Gerrard doesn't have the legs to play at such a high intensity, that should be beyond debate.Originally posted by RedReet View PostAbsolutely no need.

I'm simply saying we shouldn't change a winning team. If we're 4th and at no risk of dropping to 5th (change those positions as you like) then there's no problem with him playing, but we're playing better without him than with him. Won 2-0 away to Southampton and at home to the champions, there's no need to change that unless forced to.

Exactly. I think it is a good thing that we are not missing him, and that the players are standing up to be counted in his absence.
No doubt there will be those in the media who will spend the summer trying to push rubbish about how will Liverpool survive without Gerrard in the team, but I think that question is being answered pretty well by the current players and if we had some genuine quality in the summer to the current first team, then we will have even more reason to be optimistic next season.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.
