for so long our other players have looked up to gerrard and almost always deffered to him too often. the easy option was to always give it to gerrard.
maybe part of this was gerrards fault as he could often see others not as committed to go forward and grab the game.

its took some time for others to realise they need to do it on their own, trust their own ability and that of their team mates.

to bring gerrard back in might well undermine the self belief the lads now have and we might then be taking a step backwards.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

I'd put him down as our fourth choice CM and about the fourth choice AM as well, he is doing the right thing leaving for Galaxy.
      * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Even of the pitch it is up to other players to stand up and be counted. We need a number of players to be influential on and off the pitch rather than lumping it on one guy coming towards the end of his career.

For the first time in a long time we look to have a number of young players who can, and who are willing to, stand up and stamp their personality onto the team.

We have guys like Sakho, Henderson, Can, and Ibe who don't seem afriad to open their mouths on the pitch and who all seem to knuckle down when things are not going their way. All seem to be good talkers during games and we could well end up with a core of leaders in our first team similar to what we had during the 08/09 season when Rafa had guys like Sami, Xabi, and Masch adding to the ingame organisation of the team whilst guys like Gerrard and Torres were geeing up the team with their ability/form.

Sakho, Can, Henderson etc could well become the Alonsos and Samis of the current team and guys like Sterling and Sturridge could become the ones who inspire with their attacking performances.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

I'm simply saying we shouldn't change a winning team. If we're 4th and at no risk of dropping to 5th (change those positions as you like) then there's no problem with him playing, but we're playing better without him than with him. Won 2-0 away to Southampton and at home to the champions, there's no need to change that unless forced to.
I'm not saying that he should be an automatic starter either, but much like the rest of the team he hasn't started in a losing team since the United game.

As I said, I just don't know why you you would highlight him (or lack of him) as a highlight after such an important win.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

A youth player is facing police action after posting vile comments under an Instagram photo Steven Gerrard posted of him and his three-year-old daughter, according to reports in the Daily Star.

The Liverpool captain posted a smiling photo of himself with three-year-old daughter Lourdes on his Instagram account with the message: "My world."

Underneath the photo, the Rochdale youth player was seen posting the comment: [Edit: I'm not going to repeat his comment]

Steven Gerrard had not reported the incident but it is believed that the comment could have serious ramifications for the player involved.

League One club Rochdale have commented that they are “dealing internally” with this incident following a huge response and big complaints.

The 34-year-old father of three has two other daughters Lilly Ella, 11, and Lexie, 8.

The greatest ever and we are not missing him at all, but I still think he will be invaluable to the team during the season run-in.

I wonder if he is slightly regretting leaving with the way we are playing now. He made the decision after last seasons hangover and us being terrible. Hopefully in a cruel twist of fate we win the league next season.

It's a viscous circle tbf. Gerrard stays and we won't win the league, he goes and we have a fighting chance. Our best ever player but a real spanner in the works as far as our team performs

I never thought I'd say this but we look a more aggressive, quicker team without him.

He is a legend and deserves all the respect in the world but he's too slow in this current team and isn't capable of pressing like the rest of the lads.

You know your days are numbered when Joe Allen can out-press you.

I said it back near the start of the season. Your days are numbered when the likes of Downing and Mile fcking Jedinak can out-press and out-play you. And Neil Warnock can outthink you as a result.

It is a great shame its come to this though. Still hoping we get Gerrard in on a winter loan next season and win the league with him in the squad.

I think it's time to except that we can no longer change the system to accommodate Steven, but as a leader he still has a huge part to play in the run in.

                        Let me know your thoughts.

Yes, now that our team is settled Stevie can offer a lot of experience to push us over the top 4 line. Even as a subbed DM in certain games.

Final game of the season. Fully fit squad. Must win to get top 4.

                              Does he start?

The final game of the season will be the cup final (I have a hunch), and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him start.
                                Oh I don't know.
