But since you've asked, yes I do think some distinction needs to be made. He's not our player, he's contracted to another club and he's not on loan to anybody. I wonder what his employers make of him appearing in the press in another clubs kit.

Thought Klopp made a good point about Gerrard in his Southampton presser. The latter's presence is important for several reasons but among them is the impression it gives the current crop of players, especially the younger up-and-comers. He spoke about how, when a player of Stevie's calibre commits so many years to the club and exhibits the associated loyalty, the club's door stays open. The bond never goes away. I liked that. Maybe it's a bit rose-tinted, but footballers seem like a bunch of sentimental saps anyway so I'm sure it's a message that resonates.
