As I said the different thread he needs to earn his spot.

Personally I'd too play Shelvey ahead of him just to prove to him that he is not invincible.

That said, Stevie can still play a big part for us but Gerrard from Torres days is no more.

I do expect him to bounce back though.

He is still a very good player to be this poor.

Probably more to do with his age and the fact he knows he's blown any chance he had of winning the premier league.

He's clearly not been very good for at least a couple of years. You can count the number of great games he's had since Rafa went on two hands, perhaps even just the one hand.

Of course the injuries don't help but he doesn't help himself by thinking he's a centre midfielder. I think you can also question his attitude at times both to staff and players.

I've not watched the game today but by all accounts he was his now usual self.

There was a time when LFC knew when to get rid of players past their best - those days are long gone it seems.

He was voted the LFC forums player of the year in 2011. That's always a good judge. People can't write him off too soon. He has been poor so far. But he is no way past it.

yeah lets slate one of the only 3 (luis, agger) truly class players we have, when the issue is obviously the system, the players adapting to it & the fact we couldn't hit a cows arse with a ****ing banjo. GET A GRIP EVERYONE

I think his performances so far this season should be questioned as they have been poor, regardless of the style and system he swanned around today like he couldn't give a ****.

I love him and i know he is capable of so much more but today for the first time ever i found myself wanting him off the pitch.

within reason i agree, but i think every single player could have been pulled today, bar Cb's & Sterling; imaginebeing the talisman for your club for over 10 years & the burden that has on you when you see from the inside how ****ed up the club is...

i feel for SG & as i said earlier he shouldn't be expected to play 270mins in 7 days with 180 of those against top 4 teams.............. he needs some slack

Has he not brought enough good faith from the fans to know he does give a ****?

He still needs to put a bit in though Alex.

We need him now more than ever and he hasn't looked like he can be bothered.

He's always been prone to sporadically throwing in these workshy performances. He gets too easily frustrated and downcast. I remember being at OT one year - think we lost 2-0 (Scholes got the first) and he was absolutely shocking, the fans were going mad at him. Rafa played him right mid and he strolled about with his head down not giving a **** from start to finish.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

He was terrible today, in both effort and application and just because of who he is doesn't mean he gets a free pass!
