Been criticised in large sections of the press this morning. I haven't watched the match but I've seen the goals. I don't really see why he's been made the scapegoat here. First goal, I think the ball ricocheted off him and into the path of the Uruguay player. For the second, it was unlucky that his header fell into the heart of England's defence where the hapless defenders couldn't cope with anyway.
After all of that, I hope he retires from the England team. Let the young guard carry on and anyway, he's not gonna learn anything from Roy Hodgson. Are we winning?

I didn't think the goal was his fault - the CBs were in bad positions and they have to deal with that.
But, he's had a poor tournament (well, two games). But you have to ask why has he just had a fantastic season with us and Hodgson makes him look **** in two games? Playing in a flat two doesn't work. Hodgson, with so many LFC players in the side, should have looked to replicate how we play - give as many of those players the roles they are used to and the roles in which they thrive.
But no.
It's all Stevie's fault.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

It's clearly not his fault. So what if they Uruguayan player had beaten Gerrard to the ball and headed in precisely the same way, then presumably it would be totally the fault of the defense. Seeing as 50-50 headers can go pretty much anywhere it's nonsense to suggest that it was the header that was the problem.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years
