He may indeed. But he's my favourite player and i'd love for him to tick that off as one of his many achievements. Obviously it would only be if it looks a possibility of winning the league in a few months time. No harm in him being registered as a player & making the required apps in games that are pretty much over to pick up his winners medal. He can spend the rest of his time training & getting experience coaching from our existing set up.

his head must be exploding with all the options
even if he came here theres so many positions he could take, add on playing/coaching/managing elsewhere, punditry.
Seems a risk to go to MK Dons.
I'd like him to come here as the main club ambassador/spokesman as well as working with the academy/lower levels.

No thanks, Have enough Manc mates who go on about Gerrards slip without them going on how Gerrard coming in cost us another potential title. He would be horribly exposed in Klopps current system, It would be embarrassing and not how a true legend should be remembered.Originally posted by Ams12 View PostHe may indeed. After thinking about this, I've swung to this viewpoint as well,Originally posted by red g View PostNo thanks, Have enough Manc mates who go on about Gerrards slip without them going on how Gerrard coming in cost us another potential title. But I can't help but think I'd like to see him back at LFC in some capacity...he needs to learn from Klopp..as well as LFC being his sporting home, LFC Academy is a perfect learning ground for him, not MK Dons....
TBH! I just want to see Stevie with a liver bird on his chest again....Last edited by Molby; 18-11-16, 09:17 AM.

This MK Dons thing sounds like he's rushing a bit, now that he's not playing anymore.
It will end badly if he goes straight into management. As has been said, it also shows any young coaches that there's little point learning and working your way up as some Legend with time on his hands can just drop in ahead of you.

It would be absolutly fantastic having him back in a backroom capacity of some sort. Would love to see him around again, and I think he could be a great positive influence on young players here. Having him around the youth teams would make a lot of sense.
I see absolutly no drawback to that, and tbh. don't buy any of the arguments that it could be unsettling influence on the first team. How fragile do people expec Klopp, Buvac & Co. to be exactly?
As a first team player I'd (unfortunatly) would have to say no thank you as it stands atm. Maybe if we have a lot of midfield injuries come January, but otherwise I don't see him having much to do in the team right now. A higher work rate than he can probably deliver is expected atm. I'm not in any way afraid that it would disrupt anything, seems ridiculous argument to me as several players come and leave clubs without any problem. I like the whole Henry though of him coming back having an important few games, but I really don't see it happening right now in the current system.

I cannot belive that some dont want us to have one of our greatest ever players back at the club. He will know well enough that he cant play like he used to, but the presence and advice he could pass on to the lads in the youth and development squads is something I think we would be silly to pass up on.
He's Steven Gerrard FFS*Except Michael, who died.

I believe the hesitancy is in him being involved with the first team. He should start at the Academy.Originally posted by Alex View PostI cannot belive that some dont want us to have one of our greatest ever players back at the club. I can understand it. Big personality upsetting the apple cart. But if he couldn't impart some wisdom on kids and be a bonus around the place i'd be amazed.
It's not like Klopp is a shrinking violet, as a coach he'd be an incredible asset. See Zidane at Real Madrid.

MK Dons is the right and wrong move for him at the same time.
I think he should be applauded for showing the willingness to drop down the leagues to cut his teeth at management.
He'll learn more there than looking after our academy players for instance. In a world where people are baulking over Swansea having the temerity to appoint a far more experienced coach over Ryan Giggs, (a guy who has been involved as an assistant in the worst 3 years of Utd tin recent history) Gerrard is showing class by not trying the "do you know who I am" routine.
So the right move is dropping down the leagues to learn the trade.
However, MK dons may be a bad place to go as Winkleman is investing no money in his team. He's brought his bad hair and ill fitting suits to MK and built a stadium on the back of Asda's money. The plastic fan base they have for the main (they all used to support us/ Arsenal/ Chelseas/ Spurs) are constantly complaining.
They are probably the most despised team outside of the Prem and are a bunch of Franchise football c**ts. The fact AFC have caught up with them (when apparently a team in Wimbledon wouldn't survive) says everything about the tin pot piss poor side they are.
I ****ing hate Winkleman and everything he stands for. He's the Netto Peter Stringfellow.

if gerrard is serious about long term management on any level then he needs to go to a lower league team and work as an assistant and learn the ropes.
no one, even an ex playing legend, deserves a free ride or unearned leg up.
go and earn your stripes lad, then come back to us when the time is right.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.
