There aren't any guarantees of success who ever we go for.Originally posted by badpiggy View PostThat's a very emotive and compelling bit of writing but it doesn't necessarily mean that bringing Rafa back would guarantee success.

Possibly true, I suppose I am combining the football style with the consistency of results and the overall package was superb in that season (08/09). Roy Evans team were sometimes good to watch, but so annoyingly inconsistent.

We would most probably not have new owners if it wasn't because Rafa went to war.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostYes, Rafa went to war with H&G, but if he hadn't he may well still be ere with a chane to push on with new owners. Could argue that his impatience cost him and us dearly.
Rafa is the main reason to why we got rid of G&H. He started the fight and others finished it off. He saw what damage G&H would do and stopped at nothing to get rid of them to save the club.
He put the club before himself. Not many managers would do that.Stop the cyberhate

christ your delusional when coming to Rafa Arn, he did take a stance last season, but many fought the fight before that. He was not our saviour last season it was a mix of many factors, including supporter groups, an openly poor economic situation and not least our debitors that forced g&h to sell up and a fan-****ing-tastic job by Mr. Broughton.

I hated watching us then, I really did. Yes, we looked good going forward at times but I found our defending an embarrassment. Even our attacking play was clueless, there was no pattern, it seemed random.Originally posted by Tee View PostAgree with everything except that. Yes it made for exciting games if you didn't care about the result (and maybe then I cared too much) but it was incredibly frustrating.
I agree with Buzzo. The best I've seen us play consistently since before Dalglish left was two years ago..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Yeah ideally that would be true but he wouldn't be coming back baggage free. I worry that Hodgson is demoralising the players to such an extent that bringing back Rafa would only deepen the malaise. I'm warming to the idea if seriously young and fresh start with someone like Villas Boas or Klopp.Originally posted by Buzzo View PostThere aren't any guarantees of success who ever we go for.

Personally, I don't believe that for a minute. Financial realities were always the issue and that's what led to the takeover. The only way you can say rafa made the difference was by finishing 7th and denying them CL money.Originally posted by Arn View PostWe would most probably not have new owners if it wasn't because Rafa went to war.

I found it equally hard to watch us under Evans as we inevitably followed a win with a draw then a defeat. We had some great player Fowler and Mcmanaman etc but watching us at times was pretty enough. But we were rock solid all over the pitch in 2008/09.

A lot of our passing was literally sideways with Jamie Redknapp literally pulling the strings. Are we winning?

It would be risky. But without wanting to get all 'Arn' about it I'd be up for the gamble. However, much as I have no real clue about the Villas Boas, and even less about Klopp - I guess I'd take anyone than mad Roy. I wasn't impressed when we were chasing him. I was gutted when we chose him. And if anything he has plummeted in my estimation since then.

I somehow doubt that unless Rafa is responsible for the credit crunch and global recession. The credit crunch and with the fact RBS is 70% owned by the goverment is the main reason why they are no longer the owners. Also the pressure put on by Purslow, Broughton and co had a major influence. If it wasn't for the Credit crunch, they would still be in charge and that is a fact.Originally posted by Arn View PostWe would most probably not have new owners if it wasn't because Rafa went to war.
