It was controlled and focused passion, combined with a bit of nerves and anxiety. Second half seemed like we were growing in confidence and the way we reacted to their goal (creating 3 chances that would, on another day, have probably brought a winner) highlighted the strength of character and mentality.Originally posted by rcasemore View Postyes!
Always find you get a better feel for how things went from the live perspective, looked good (most of the game) on tv.
It was pandemonium in the Kop when Gerrard scuffed the freekick into the net

He clearly and emphatically came for a point and only got it via good luck.Originally posted by rcasemore View Postloved the fact he admitted it as well - must have hurt the Mancs even more hearing that
strange side they put out that day, looked like Fergie was genuinely worried about getting stuffed

I love Rafa.
Thanks Yozza for your in-depth summary of the events.
I was reading up loads of different articles about Hillsborough last night and watched this video - again - and it brought tears to me eyes.

Jovanovic was signed (well, pre-contract) while Rafa was still in charge. And before anyone says anything else, remember Voronin? Rafa was a great judge of a player when it came to spending decent money (Keane excepted), but not so great at the Bosman melarkey.Originally posted by Lee View PostThat coupled with Rafa's payoff and then Hodgson TB's payoff... Poulsen and Konchesky being given away, Jovanovic, Cole's wages... what a mess.

I had to sit and watch Craig play FIFA12 and he renamed every player to Gerrard Carragherson. We of course won the CL and the PL but I think it was over the top to rename all the players

When they scored my first thought was "oh no, here we go again", but the way the team responded, pretty much denying them the ball for the last 10 minutes and creating some really good chances, was very encouraging.I could not dig, I dared not rob:

Oh I'm not bigging up Rafa or having a go at Hodgson, I'm merely pointing out the obscene amount of money wasted last year.Originally posted by MrMichael View PostJovanovic was signed (well, pre-contract) while Rafa was still in charge. Of course Rafa had his Voronin's and Degen's but like you say, on the whole his signings were good. Hodgson's were just ****.

Every manager makes bad calls, Rafa included

Everything Hodgson did was just ****.Originally posted by Lee View PostOh I'm not bigging up Rafa or having a go at Hodgson, I'm merely pointing out the obscene amount of money wasted last year.

He wasted a fair amount of money, not sure it was obscene though. I think Joe Cole was a relatively acceptable risk (huge wages but most people were quite happy with his signing at the time), and Meireles wasn't a bad buy (we even made a slight bit on him). The big errors were the Konk and Poulson, neither of whom was ever going to be even remotely good enough, and who cost us about £7m in a season (we actually got a bit of money back from Forest for Konk, somehow).
Poor, but plenty of managers have made mistakes that cost clubs that much through transfer mistakes. It was everything else that came with the Bodge that really marked him out as our worst manager in living memory.I could not dig, I dared not rob:

Lol, so forgettable. Isn't he still at the club, bizarrely enough?Originally posted by Shaggy View PostDon't forget Bwad Jones. Just an absolute waste of £2m plus wages.
That one was just odd. Not that its unheard of to spend a couple of million on a slightly random reserve keeper who never plays (pretty sure Rafa did that, and KD has too with Doni), but Brad Jones somehow just seemed weirder. Probably because everyone knew he was really quite ****.I could not dig, I dared not rob:
