on a conference call today at work before everyone had logged in we got talking about andy carroll.

someone stated it was almost as bad a deal as the keane one. I pointed out that we didnt lose that much on keane. (checking was done on wiki) and i was proved right

I agree, but not for the same reasons. I think he was well below the standard we were expecting and his subsequent spell at Spurs seemed to indicate he was well past his peak.

But we didn't get to reinvest the money we received for him, so we would have been better keeping him.

Don’t get me wrong, I was extremely disappointed with Keane and wasn’t too sorry to see him go. The fact that we never replaced him left us a bit light up top though, especially with Gerrard and Torres struggling with injuries. In saying that, I suppose we finished that season very strongly so maybe it is just the fact we didn’t get to reinvest the money that is clouding my judgement.
