I do like rafa but if he goes to Chelsea i certainly don't want him to be successful there. They may not be a direct rival at the moment, but rivalling the current top teams has to be what we are aiming for.

The thing is we've had the chance to offer Rafa the job TWICE and he's been available and willing yet we overlooked him and we're now giving an unproven manager a go.
I don't blame him, he can't wait forever. I personally want him to be a success, see Fergie off once and for all. Him doing well will be to United's detriment.Vive la France

That just isn't giving Rodgers a fair crack of the whip. Just like Chelsea fans keep comparing their managers to Mourinho.Originally posted by marksared View PostInevitably he will be compared to Rafa because he was available to us and was overlooked in favour of Rodgers.
Rafa won the Champions League with limited resources
Rafa got sacked and a lot of fans disregarded the relationship he had with various aspects of the club, so as much as I admire your analyzing of the possible future situation I think it is better to look at the harsh reality.
Like I've said countless times, it feels as though if Rafa isn't in the Anfield dugout (home end), then every manager we get will be unfairly compared to him, regardless of circumstance.

That's normal though until a new manager hits those heights. We had a pretty good run of managers in the past didn't we.Originally posted by Phoenix07 View PostThat just isn't giving Rodgers a fair crack of the whip. Just like Chelsea fans keep comparing their managers to Mourinho.

They've employed 2 managers, one of which was down to enormous fan demand and you can't say that Kenny wasn't backed in the transfer market.Originally posted by Imy View PostI don't think FSG give a ****. They've employed 3 managers, none of which had the resources or even the ambition to make us title challengers.
FSG have primed us to accept mid table/Europa obscurity.

It becomes a bit too sentimental though. Imagine sitting with your wife and you keep talking about your ex and how awesome she was.Originally posted by dom9 View PostThat's normal though until a new manager hits those heights. We had a pretty good run of managers in the past didn't we.

It's definitely not ideal, and it could quite easily end badly. He just has no other choices at the level he wants, and it's reached a point now where he has to get back into the game. I don't like it, it's definitely not ideal but I can completely see why he's going for it.Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

The British press have done such a good hatchet job on Rafa that he must see this as the only way back in, regardless of the fact that it may only be untill the end of the season!
