The owners and Ayre would have questions to answer, but Rodgers shouldn't be under any extra pressure. All he's done is walk in and try his best, showing his qualities as a manager.Originally posted by marksared View PostBecause we could have had Rafa back and chose a young unproven manager.

I don't think FSG give a ****. They've employed 3 managers, none of which had the resources or even the ambition to make us title challengers.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostWell, Rafa has been wanted by the Champions League winners 2010 and the Champions League winners 2012. But apparently he wasn't good enough to even be considered by the owners of mid-table Liverpool FC in 2012. Some might see that as negligent. He was free of charge and wanted the job - so the owners will IMO certainly have questions to answer if Rafa does well at Chelsea.
FSG have primed us to accept mid table/Europa obscurity.We come not to play.

Kenny was given a lot of money and resources, sadly it didn't work - The Bodge was got rid of and rightly so straight away and Rodgers was backed to a decent level in the summer, to make out they've done anything back the manager(s) is simply wrong.Originally posted by Imy View PostI don't think FSG give a ****. Football is a results business, if questions are being asked it will be down to results on the pitch and invariably the manager will be the in the firing line.Originally posted by Phoenix07 View PostThe owners and Ayre would have questions to answer, but Rodgers shouldn't be under any extra pressure. What I'm trying to say (and I'm having an absolute mare so far) is that just because Rafa could be doing well, doesn't mean that Rodgers should come under any extra pressure just because of a manager we could've had.Originally posted by marksared View PostFootball is a results business, if questions are being asked it will be down to results on the pitch and invariably the manager will be the in the firing line.
We should assess Rodgers based on the resources available, the results, tactics, personality and relationship with various aspects of the club, and the current environment (club and Premier League) he finds himself in, not on whether Rafa is doing well.

Hodgson was eventually got rid off (almost after they had no choice).Originally posted by rcasemore View PostKenny was given a lot of money and resources, sadly it didn't work - The Bodge was got rid of and rightly so straight away and Rodgers was backed to a decent level in the summer, to make out they've done anything back the manager(s) is simply wrong.
Agree Kenny was backed, a lot of which was through sales of existing players (it pains me to say it, but Kenny ****ed up
)
Rodgers was backed to a point - at a time where the club reduced the wage by selling many of the senior/higher earners, he certainly wasn't backed with the funds for a striker, he wasn't backed in a way a club with CL aspirations may have been backed.
For me FSG seems to want to do everything on the cheap, look at the stadium 'renovation' as an example.We come not to play.

It would have been foolish of them to simply let Hodgson go straight away without a time to assess it.Originally posted by Imy View PostHodgson was eventually got rid off (almost after they had no choice).

Kenny had something like a 35m net summer spend, that is a very big spend.
We were one of last summers highest spenders, we spent what teams aspiring for the CL often spend as a net, we made so little on selling unwanted players sadly, that and we had no scouts at the time.
Does it matter if we can make Anfield as big as a new stadium would be? That is not doing things on the cheap, that is simply being sensible.

This really is the wrong thread for this, but maximising value for money and doing it 'on the cheap' really are not the same things.Originally posted by Imy View PostHodgson was eventually got rid off (almost after they had no choice).
