Injury record is the same reason Agger left. Both exceptional defenders but you can't build a defensive setup around a player or players who can't stay fit.

Will be a shame to see him leave though.

I really do not rate Sakho. He might be strong, but he is clumsy and gives the ball away far too easily.

I do agree that it would be madness to sell him without having another CB lined up, but in my view he is more of a liability than asset....

I really wish MOSTAR or someone could make a highlight reel of his work for France or a full game focus in that game against Ukraine to show his utter brilliance. Did he look shaky on the ball a couple of times for us? Sure who wouldn't being dragged in and out of the time like fecking Brenda has been doing.

It really boils my blood that he is being kept out of the squad and that after the utter turd that Lovren and Kolo are!!?? These sort of decision really make me question BR

FWIW, I do think there is an element of Liverpool fans that exaggerate his quality, almost to a point where all he has to do is step on the pitch and he automatically gets MOM, and then you have the Sky Sports angle where he's dodgy and draws pressure on the defence etc......... but IMO, I think the reality is somewhere in the middle.
I actually do rate him, but he's not the finished article by any means, however, he does possess a large amount of the qualities you want in your CB, and as he played more and more games, you felt he had pushed his way into the first team - even with the expected switch back to a more conventional backline. Personally, I would have liked to see a Skrtel/Sakho partnership start with our new FBs, and a solid approach to the midfield, but Rodgers seems convinced to go the opposite way.
While I'd love to have options better than all four, Skrtel is our consistently best CB, both in performance and availability, so it's going to be down to Sakho/Lovren/Toure to provide the other half of the partnership, and I don't think it's unreasonable to order the preference in that manner either based on what we saw last season.
Rodgers obviously sees it different, which may be based on Sakho's availability concerns, which is his prerogative fair enough, but it doesn't explain his omission from the bench, as he's clearly miles better than Kolo !

Hope he doesn't leave, as there are going to be opportunities to get in the side at some point this season (not that I wouldn't mind the clean sheets to continue as long as possible), but he's probably had a showdown with Rodgers and come to the conclusion that he's not going to figure as a mainstay this season - in that respect I think the omission from the squad completely, with the subsequent loan/sell stories is the fallout from that showdown, as he's got far too much quality to not be on the bench at the very least.

I like Sakho, and think he's better than Lovren, but take off the red tinted glasses for a minute, he's no Franco Baresi. He's been at the heart of plenty of our calamitous performances, as has Lucas, but both escape flak because there's always someone worse.

Might as well merge this thread with the Rodgers one, because its more manager bashing. poor Sakho/poor Balotelli/poor Lucas/can't organise a defence etc.

The biggest problem with our club for me is the constant whining. And if we win, there will always be something else to ****ing moan about. This used to be a positive forum.
