Disagree. Gini is a fabulous player and a great game against Porto, he covered an immense amount of ground and supported both defence and attack on numerous occasions, imo he is better than CanOriginally posted by Big-Red-Ed View Post
His ball retention (oh er missus) is second to none. If you want to see a great example of this, there is a video of him and cout playing against 30 school kids. It was amazing to watch him with 30 kids swarming around him trying to take the ball from him

He's inconsistent because of the way teams play against us. When there is space and it's a midfield battle against a team prepared to attack us, he is excellent. When we're playing against two banks of four he can be a passenger. Horses for courses. He was good last night, though.Comment

I agree with the intensity thing. I missed a lot of the game but from what I've seen Wijnaldum had a good game last night... he's just not a take the game by the scruff kind of midfielder but a useful one (on occasion) nonetheless.Comment

When he is on his game he is great but too often drifts in and out f games and is t consistent enough. Not worth spunking 100k a week and signing on fees? for a squaddie.
